1959 Austin Seven (mini) in rally trim

This Mini was built on 9th Nov 1959 and was first registered on 13th Nov 1959 under reg No. 7AOG (original registration retained by last owner). The AOG registration included three "works" rally minis (617AOG, 618AOG & 619AOG), of which 617AOG scored a class win in the 1960 Geneva Rally, driven by Don & Eric Morley. This car had evidently been rallied before (evidence of brake, fuel & electric lines run internally), but its rally history is not known. It was rebuilt in rally trim from the shell upwards by the current owner. It has a 998cc engine, running on twin H1 SUs with Downton inlet & exhaust manifolds & AEA731 rally camshaft, producing about 60 BHp. It has an early "works" roll-cage and an RAC type sump-guard. Brake, fuel and elec leads are run internally. It has adjustable suspension and shock-absorbers. Two spare wheels are fitted to the rear-seat base. Additional cooling is provided with an extra front-facing radiator. It has an early (make unknown) right-hand fuel tank. The driver's seat is an early rally seat. The only modern fitmenrs are Brantz rally trip-meter and stop-watch timer. The current owner has competed in a 3 day Welsh rally and several "HERO" challenge 1 day rallies. Reason for sale - the owner is 79 and doesn't want to compete again. Note that the mileage quoted is simply as read from current mileometer (which has been replaced). Actual mileage is not known.
