The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup represents the motorsport racing variant of the 911 GT3 (Type 991). It features a 3.8-litre, six-cylinder boxer engine that produces 460 horsepower at 7,500 rpm, a 10-horsepower increase over the previous model. Power is transmitted to the rear axle through a race clutch and a six-speed sequential dog-type gearbox, designed by Porsche Motorsport, with a mechanical limited-slip differential. For the first time in a Porsche Cup race car, gear shifting is controlled by paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel. Porsche Motorsport also introduced newly designed single-piece race wheels with a centre mount. The width of the Michelin race slicks was increased to 27 centimetres at the front and 31 centimetres at the rear axle.

The wheelbase of the 911 GT3 Cup has increased by approximately 100 millimetres relative to the previous model, which enhances handling under extreme conditions. The updated racing brake system increases the vehicle's endurance performance. Internally vented and slotted steel brake discs are actuated by aluminium six-piston racing calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear.

The safety features of the 911 GT3 Cup have been enhanced. The vehicle is equipped with a newly engineered safety cage and a redesigned race seat to increase driver protection. A new rescue hatch integrated into the roof enables efficient access and extrication.

Similar to the road-going version, the body of the 911 GT3 Cup achieves high rigidity and low weight through its aluminium-steel construction. The total weight is only 1,175 kg.
