2012 BMW M3

After just over 8 years of ownership, the time has sadly arrived for my Japan Red E92 M3 to enjoy a new home, and will be available from the end of August.

The car is currently on 99k miles with warranty. I've owned it since 2017 from 40k miles, with 4 previous owners (one being BMW, as it was their show/demo car).

I'm still utilising BMW's extended warranty; the car has never been out of a warranty phase and I've continued this for the 8 years I've owned. It comes at a premium of course, but BMW have replaced both throttle actuators and rectified a gasket leak on the gearbox in my ownership.

I have contacted BMW Insured Warranty Services and they have advised that when the car is sold, the new owner will have 10 days to renew the policy for continuation of the fully comprehensive warranty currently on the vehicle - if still under 100k miles. If they take this out on a rolling monthly payment scheme, it will be covered for all but wear and tear items, even when going over 100k miles, and will continue for as long as the car is owned and the warranty is in effect. For clarity, if an owner tried to take out a new BMW warranty policy on an E92 M3 with over 100k miles, they would only be able to take out a named component or driveline cover. The fully comprehensive cover is great peace of mind for any prospective owner, but of course as stated comes at a monthly cost (think it’s around £90 from memory).

Price wise, I’m taking advice from enthusiasts, local dealers and my own head, and the car won’t be sold for anything less than £25k, having already turned down offers (for more - and substantially less) over the last 9 months during a period the car wasn’t for sale. I appreciate everyone has an opinion on car valuations and this is mine. So whether someone thinks it’s too much, or someone else thinks it’s a bargain and the car will be a fully loaded, limited edition 1 of only 25 in the world this colour asset still under warranty (which is where my head resides), I’m in the enviable position where I don’t need to sell so will be holding my ground. If folk want to say “you should be selling for much more than that” then please shout up, because even contemplating selling is killing me, but new car now forces a sad sale. This is the best car I’ve ever owned, and certainly the best sounding.

Of course, it’s also a 13 year old car which has been used a daily driver. There are a few little minor things I’d do if I was keeping the car, and the price is reflective of this. It has never been tracked or abused and no expense has been spared when requiring serviceable items - the car has recently had both rear wheel bearings replaced by BMW as a precautionary measure (July 2025), and been through a full detail and valet to prepare for regrettable sale.
