EXTERIOR
Finished in brilliant Diamond White, (Code B), this genuine Mexico is stunning with the Red Mexico decals so desired by Ford enthusiasts worldwide. Panel gaps are perfectly straight and detailing extending to the underside will please both owners and onlookers. Vital components such as the eight bolts in the boot floor and strengthened AVO workmanship are laid bare for all to see with no excess applied underseal. For those enjoying the show circuit, the immaculate underside is finished in body colour and looks amazing. The chrome, glass, and badges are in immaculate order with the glass still being Ford Triplex items and number plate etched. The original Ford front windscreen has a few minor marks but much preferred over an aftermarket replacement. Front headlights on the correct Cibie items and all lens units are factory fitted FoMoCo. This really is a Rallye Sport winner!
INTERIOR
Correct and immaculate vinyl padded XL-specification seats, (Code AA), are basic and very supportive. The padded facia has no cracks or rips and the correct matt-black finish to the beautiful instrument panel to eliminate dazzle is unmarked. All instrumentation, switches and stalks function. The headlining, door cards and carpeting is unworn. The boot area continues the showroom experience with the blue Ford jack complete with stickers and wheel brace included. Even the delicate plastic rear light covers are still present! All old and gold!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Watch as spectators will drool in amazement under the bonnet of this desirable Escort Mexico as it is so clean with labels, stickers and Motocraft service items clear to see. The four cylinder matching numbers 1600 GT crossflow unit with the 711M block is quoted in the sales brochure at 86bhp to go up to a ton with little effort and hit sixty in under 11 seconds. The original VIN plate and AVO ID plate remain fixed to the slam panel and the chassis number is visible to the inner wing. The close ratio all-synchromesh 4-speed gearbox with heavy-duty three-rail shift ensures positive changes.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This car it is fitted with immaculate spoke-style sculptured pressed steel wheels measuring 5.5x13in finished in two-tone Silver Fox with Pearl Grey centres. RS stainless steel hubcaps have a glorious mirror finish. Firestone 175/70 R13 tyres all-round have masses of tread and a pressed steel spare is strapped and angled in the boot. Direct servo-assistance brakes run on the standard single line braking system with front calipers on solid discs and drum brakes to the rear.
HISTORY FILE
Built at Fords Advanced Vehicle Operations factory in Aveley in July 1973, this matching numbers vehicle has only had three owners from new. The last owner, Miss Tracy Bosman, an avid Fast Ford collector cherishing the car since 2011. Such was her fondness for this particular car, it resided on show in her property rather than one of the outbuildings housing many more incredible Fords! A full album of photos shows the completeness and originality of the car prior to restoration work and the meticulous steps taking during the refurbishment to create the show car seen today. Used sparingly over the last 15 for the occasional classic car show, (plaques and programmes included), and an annual MOT, it creates a buzz whenever out. An A4 file of paperwork including invoices, old MOT certificates and handbooks are included. This car is now ready for the discerning collector and Blue Oval enthusiast.
MOT August 2026, HPI Clear.
