Description

I am reluctantly writing this ad to offer for sale, my low mileage 1989 Porsche 928 GT.
Having covered a genuine 78000 miles since new with only 6 previous owners, this must be one of the lowest mileage, fewest owners, affordable 928GT’s available on the market. I purchased the car in 2007 and during my ownership, I have only covered 22k miles, 5k of which were in the past 10yrs.
This 928GT has a 5ltr V8 making approx. 330bhp and is mated to a manual gearbox. This car comes with a factory fitted sunroof and an MOT until 30th October 2025. It is Black, with Full Black Turbo Leather Interior, Bilstein fully adjustable suspension and genuine BBS 18” Split Rim Racetrack wheels; LM144 on the rear and LM0000 on the front. They were renewed in 2000 and now showing their age and are in need of a refresh.
I purchased this car as a GT with a factory fitted GTS wide body (flared arches etc) which is an extremely rare combination. This was validated when I had to replace a wing mirror. Using the PET (Porsche Ersatz Teile) catalogue, I supplied the code number for the car and year and was supplied with the correct "Tear Drop Mirror" as was originally on the car and not the square mirrors associated with the GT. Again, using the same process, I replaced the driver’s side front wing and the correct flared arch was supplied from the catalogue against the vehicle number.
The car has had a few subtle modifications from stock. The rear silencer was removed (muffler delete) and replaced with straight through pipes and a twin tailpipe from the US. This really enhances the V8 grumble without making it unbearably loud. The current steering wheel is a Momo wheel and boss. I have kept all the original parts so anyone wanting to return to stock can do so.
The car drives faultlessly having had regular mechanical maintenance despite having covered very few miles. It Had a new clutch fitted and was wax oiled underneath shortly after purchasing it, in 2009 at approx. 60k miles, so overall the fabric of the car is very sound. Whilst there is very little dealer maintenance history, the car has benefited from having access to a specialist 928 mechanic who has worked on its upkeep. This is supported by a huge catalogue of receipts; over £20K; which shows the significant investment made over the last 17yrs
For a car that is just over 35yrs old, the exterior is now showing its age and has a few minor spots of rust. It needs a respray and is suffering with lacquer peel mainly on the back half of the car. I have nowhere to store the car and when I started to address the paintwork several years back, the freshly painted panels were vandalised, so I stopped the process. The interior has some sun damage but otherwise in very good condition.
I had the car valued in 2019 and it was estimated to be worth £25k as it was, or, £50k after a respray. I had it valued again in 2023, and the estimate had increased to circa £30k.
Unfortunately, I am no longer able to continue the journey with my 928 and am looking to find someone who will go the last mile to get it back to its former glory. This is a fantastic opportunity to grab a rare appreciating classic.
My asking price is £34.5k and viewings welcome.
Please get in touch if you are interested and I will be happy to talk you through any details.
PS. Also comes with 2 keys and a New Battery as of 02-01-2025.
