There are sports cars, and then there's the 2017 Mercedes-AMG GT R – a car born on the Nürburgring and engineered with one purpose: to dominate. Nicknamed the Beast of the Green Hell for good reason, the GT R was the most hardcore iteration of the AMG GT lineup at the time, blending race-bred performance with road-going refinement in a way only AMG knows how.

At its heart lies a handcrafted 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8, producing 577 horsepower and 517 ft-lb of torque. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a lightning-quick 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, launching the GT R from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 198 mph. But the numbers only tell half the story – it’s the raw connection between driver and machine that truly defines this car.

Track-focused enhancements set the GT R apart: a widened stance, active aerodynamics, rear-wheel steering, a specially tuned suspension with adaptive damping, and extensive use of lightweight materials including a carbon fibre roof and front wings. It’s aggressive, purposeful, and ridiculously fast.

Inside, you’ll find a Leather & Alcantara-lined cockpit that balances comfort with performance.
