Description
Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX MR280.
September 2006. Imported in 2020.
153,000 Km.
This car is a fantastic example of a rare Evo wagon, one of around 2500 made for the Japanese market. This manual car has a few modifications, but with a largely standard engine except for the air filter and exhaust system.
I purchased the car in March this year with the intention of keeping it as a weekend toy for a while, however a different car altogether came up for sale that I couldn’t turn down, so I have made the tricky decision to sell this and let someone else enjoy it.
The car is 100% solid underneath. There is no rot. There’s a little minor surface corrosion in places that has been treated, but no rot at all. It has just been steam cleaned underneath including the wheel arches, and Bilt Hamber anti-corrosion wax and cavity wax applied throughout. This is a solid car.
Mechanically the car is tight as a drum, the steering feel is incredible and the ride on the BC coil-overs is firm but still more than compliant enough to be able to use the car on long journeys. The car tracks straight and true, the brakes are incredible, and its ability to carry speed is remarkable - putting many newer cars to shame. And not just in pace, but in the whole feel of the driving experience.
The car has just undergone a large scope of work, including;
Engine oil and filter change (Motul). Clean engine oil analysis report – see photo.
Cam belt and balancer shaft belt, water pump, hydraulic tensioner.
Auxiliary belt.
New gearbox oil (Motul).
New rear diff oil (Motul).
New ITG pleated air filter with foam sock.
New spark plugs.
New 400 cell catalytic converter (after photos were taken)
New Delphi brake discs and pads, front and rear.
New brake fluid (Motul).
New Falken FK520 tyres in 235/45 R17 94Y
New NSF wheel arch liner (after photos were taken)
New Pioneer wireless Car Play double din head unit.
Bespoke Mitsubishi logo wheel centres, and Mitsubishi logo valve caps.
Professional detailing carried out by award winning Fox Tail detailing, including;
Full car 2 stage machine polish and 3-year ceramic coating.
Interior deep clean with front and rear seats removed.
Carpets and seats shampooed. Headlining steam cleaned.
Underbody and wheel arch steam clean and Bilt Hamber anti-corrosion surface wax and cavity wax applied.
4-wheel alignment – see photo.
Prior to my ownership;
Cat 1 alarm and immobiliser system with remote central locking.
XXR527 wheels in very good condition.
BC coil overs with solid front top mounts.
Aftermarket Jap style exhaust with separate de-cat pipe included in the sale.
GRP bonnet with carbon skin – just painted with new lockable bonnet catches in addition to new standard bonnet catch (see ‘before’ photo).
Aftermarket dump valve.
Kode steering wheel.
AC delete.
Small battery kit.
There are 2 set of keys with the car, including 2 remotes, keys for the bonnet catches and for the included steering lock.
New MOT until 3rd September 2026
What are the bad bits?
I think the front bumper has been replaced at some point and isn’t the greatest fit. The OS headlight had water in it when I bought it, it’s been dried this out and resealed it but there is some dirt in there that I can’t get out.
The paint in generally very good for a 19-year-old car with this mileage, but there are a few chips and scrapes here and there. But nothing that detracts from the overall finish.
The standard speakers leave a lot to be desired.
Very limited service history.
This is such a great example of a rare car that is both fast and practical. I welcome any viewing and inspections. Any test drives with proof of your insurance only.
No canvassers or agencies. Price negotiations only with viewing.
