Description

A rare opportunity to own a true rally-bred classic – the Subaru Impreza P1, the ultimate B-road machine. Built in collaboration with Prodrive and limited to just 1,000 units, the P1 has become one of the most desirable modern classics for enthusiasts and collectors alike.
This example, number 154 of 1000, was first registered on 14th July 2000 and has been in my ownership for the past eight years. It remains totally standard, well-presented, and comes with a comprehensive service history. With just 90,200 miles, it shows relatively low mileage for its age – having covered under 1,400 miles in the past 14 years, during which time it has been garage stored.
Condition & Highlights
• Interior: Spotless, featuring the rare factory-fitted Recaro front seats.
• Exterior: Very good overall, showing only minor age-related wear. The front splitter is missing (a known issue since before my ownership) – this has been factored into the asking price.
• Mechanical: Recently recommissioned, including four new tyres on refurbished OZ Racing wheels.
• Paperwork: Extensive history file with a folder of MOT certificates and invoices. The service book shows 18 Subaru-approved services.
• MOT: Valid until August 2026.
Background on the P1
Developed by Prodrive and styled by Peter Stevens (of McLaren F1 fame), the Impreza P1 was purpose-built for British roads. With its two-door bodyshell, bespoke suspension tuning, and rally-honed upgrades, it shared much of its DNA with the legendary 22B – but in a package designed for everyday usability.
Key features include:
• 280bhp 2.0-litre turbocharged engine (69bhp more than the standard Turbo)
• 5-speed manual gearbox with quick-shift linkage
• ABS brakes and Prodrive-tuned suspension
• Iconic Blue Mica paint with anthracite 17" OZ Racing wheels
• 0–60mph in just 4.66 seconds
Why Buy This Car?
With values of Japanese performance icons such as the 22B now well into six figures, the P1 represents an outstanding balance of rarity, heritage, and usability. This example, in standard specification and with a strong history file, is both a sound investment and a car that can still be enjoyed as Subaru intended – devouring B-roads with ease.
Competitively priced to sell, this is an all-time classic ready for its next custodian.
