Description
1984 BMW M635 CSi
Finished in Sable Brown Metallic with Beige leather.
Possibly the oldest surviving RHD M635 CSi (chassis no. 0004).
Only 58,000 miles recorded.
This car, according to the BMW M Register was the fourth UK specification example ever produced, with the first 3 likely used as internal within BMW AG and BMW M in Germany. An email on file from BMW M Register goes on to inform that this is quite possibly the oldest UK M635 in the world. The car finished production on October 12th 1984 and the build sheet carries option code 940 which means the car was initially built with special equipment or for special purpose. It is believed that it was an early promotion/press vehicle. In correspondence the M Register also notes that Sable Brown Metallic is an extremely rare colour for an M635, especially in the UK, with this being one of only two recorded.
After a period of being laid up, and we are informed following a bereavement the car was purchased by a new owner some time in 2011 and sent to a BMW specialist in York for various recommissioning work. There are some sizeable bills on file since with an extensive service carried out in 2019 at a cost of almost £5,000 and a more recently one dated last year for a similar amount.
A rare chance to own a significant vehicle and a piece of BMW M history which is very attractively priced. Given its very early build date this is already registered as a historic vehicle with DVLA.
