Description
There is a saying, if you want to go into the bush, take a Land Rover. If you want to make it back, take a Land Cruiser. Toyota's off-roader has long been lauded for its off-road capability and its rugged reliability.
Loved across the globe, from the jungles of Africa to the Dunes of Arabia. The Land Cruiser has remained Toyota's longest-running model, taking the road less travelled since the 1950s.
In 1989, Toyota introduced the 80-Series. A car so good, it won its class at the Dakar Rally. Away from competition, 80-Series Land Cruisers were sold globally in great numbers. This particular car was built and supplied new in Japan, where it remained on their unsalted roads until it was imported into the UK in 2025. Since its arrival on British soil, it has had just one owner.
Externally, the car is finished in a shade of Teal metallic with retro stylised graphics. The car sits on a set of 16" slot-faced alloys, which are wrapped in BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres. The car has been treated to a tasteful reverse facelift, backdating the front end to look like a 60-series. The wider grille and round headlamps look excellent and are arguably far cleaner than the rectangular originals.
Of course, the interior is filled with 1990s nostalgia. With soft, rounded edges throughout, it is a sea of Beige. Both on the plastics and the fabrics. There are also wool-seat covers! The sound system has been upgraded, and now utilises a Pioneer double-DIN head unit and speakers to offer much improved sound.
Land Cruisers were made available with a few different engines; this one is fitted with a 4.5-litre 1FZ straight six. It produces 188BHP and 268 lb-ft of torque. Mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox, it sends power to all four wheels with selectable high and low ratios.
It takes just a moment to assess that this Land Cruiser has lived a pampered life. The paintwork is excellent, the interior clean and tidy, all in line with the odometer reading of just over 203,000 KM (126,000 miles)
The choice modifications that help to add a retro-surf style to this iconic off-roader ensure that it will turn heads wherever it goes. On road or off, it's an awesome bit of kit.
As with all our vehicles, an entire digital folder is available upon request and contains more images, walk-around videos, and scans of the service history. The car can also be viewed by appointment at our West London showroom.
