1995 VOLKSWAGEN CORRADO

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2025 on Saturday the 8th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. The Volkswagen Corrado VR6 was launched in the early 1990s as the flagship of Volkswagen’s sporting line-up, combining crisp design, advanced features and the distinctive 2.9-litre VR6 engine. Today, very few remain in original condition, making this example particularly noteworthy.

First registered on 27/09/1995, the car was retained by its first keeper for 14 years before being transferred to his wife, who continued to own it for a further 12. Between them, the same family cared for the car for a total of 26 years, during which it covered just 32,000 miles. In 2021 it was acquired by our vendor, who has enjoyed it at selected shows over the past five years.

Presented in Candy White with full black leather trim, the car is described by our vendor as being in superb condition. The paintwork is believed to be original and remains in outstanding order, with all exterior trim, including window rubbers, noted as fresh and undamaged. The black leather interior is unmarked, complemented by a period factory-upgrade Becker audio unit. The original first-aid kit is also present and unused.

At approximately 10,000 miles the engine was replaced under warranty by Volkswagen, the fault traced to a fuel injector on cylinder five which had jammed open, washing the bore and necessitating replacement. That engine remains in the possession of the original family, who have indicated a willingness to make it available to any future custodian of the car should they wish to reacquaint it, for a reasonable fee. Documentation covering the warranty work is included within the file.

Importantly, all electrical functions operate correctly, including both the sliding sunroof and active rear spoiler. Our vendor describes the Corrado as exceptionally original, with the quality of presentation attracting considerable attention at shows. It has remained in show-standard condition throughout his ownership and is now offered to market as an excellent, well-preserved example of Volkswagen’s flagship coupé.

The car is accompanied by a comprehensive history file which contains a full Volkswagen dealer and recognised specialist service history with all service stamps, the original purchase invoice, maintenance and service invoices carefully retained, MOT certificates from 1998 onwards corroborating the indicated mileage, and the aforementioned warranty paperwork.

With low mileage, long-term single-family ownership prior to 2021, and supported by a complete history file, this Corrado VR6 represents a rare opportunity to acquire a car that has survived in outstanding original order. Where many cars of this type have been modified or restored, this example’s appeal lies in its authenticity – original paint, unmarked trim and interior, a superb history file and the sort of condition that only years of careful ownership can achieve.
