1988 Ferrari

This is a very special Ferrari – a one-owner Mondial 3.2 Cabriolet cherished from new by my dear friend, award-winning composer David Mindel. Delivered in April 1988 and first registered on May 1st, the car has covered just 37,800 miles in 37 years of single ownership.

Garaged and covered throughout her life, Francesca spent nearly three decades in the warm, dry climate near Avignon in the South of France – an environment that has preserved her bodywork, interior and mechanicals superbly.

Finished in Grigio Metallizzato (FER 700C), Francesca is beautifully subtle yet eye-catching. The metallic grey flatters every Pininfarina curve, looking sophisticated and understated at first glance, yet drawing admiring looks wherever she goes. Believed to be one of only two RHD Mondial Cabriolets ever finished in this shade, she is a rare and striking specification.

She also wears the correct Michelin TRX tyres, exactly as Ferrari intended, further underlining her authenticity and originality.

Driving Experience

Francesca is well-mannered at low speeds, happy to cruise through town in comfort, yet unleash the throttle and you get that unmistakable Ferrari V8 howl. As a genuine four-seater, she is the perfect Ferrari for a family, blending practicality with character. Quite simply, she is probably the most stunning and beautiful convertible Ferrari ever made.

David puts it best:

“This Mondial is one of the last cars built before Enzo Ferrari died, and one of the last without power steering – a real car. She has lived in the south near Avignon in a very dry climate, always garaged and covered. No one but Ferrari mechanics and me have ever driven her until she was repatriated. She was run in the old-fashioned way – slowly increasing the revs in 500rpm increments. She runs like a dream.”

Recent Service – Bell Sport & Classic, August 2025

In August 2025, David entrusted Francesca to Ferrari specialists Bell Sport & Classic for a comprehensive £5,678 service, including cambelts, auxiliary belts, fluids, spark plugs, coolant system overhaul, suspension work, A/C update and more. The work was carried out for completeness, as David wanted her to be absolutely right for her next owner.

Provenance & Peace of Mind

Supplied new by Maranello Concessionaires, Egham. The original service book was unfortunately lost by Maranello prior to export in 1998, but service invoices are present to support her history.

Currently insured with Hagerty UK at an agreed value of £60,000, giving peace of mind about her standing in today’s market.
