EXTERIOR

The M3 CSL was available in only two colour variants, Black Sapphire Metallic and Silver Grey Metallic. This example is presented in the stunning silver grey paint option which looks incredible alongside the lightweight carbon-fibre panels that define the M3 ‘Coupe Sport Lightweight’.

The metallic paintwork shows in perfect order, free of swirl marks that can so easily be picked up over time; clearly been treasured from day one with occasional use and careful storage in between.

The abundance of carbon fibre that makes an appearance on the roof panel, front bumper splitter and rear valance show no signs of damage whatsoever along with the shadow-line window trim that remains in excellent condition.

INTERIOR

It becomes immediately evident that the M3 CSL was build with racing pedigree in mind. The deeply bolstered lightweight sports seats are firm and provide race car-like support. The stylish yet minimalistic interior has been designed for optimal weight saving, with carbon fibre reinforced plastic and Anthracite reflex cloth throughout the interior. The bolsters remain in excellent condition, showing only light signs of use to the drivers seat and no scratches or marks whatsoever.

The three-spoke M steering wheel is clean and showing no signs of wear to the wrapped alcantara, which still feels smooth to the touch. The carbon fibre centre console remains free from scratches and damage and retains its factory limited edition plaque.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

Cloaked in carbon and squeezed beneath a strut brace, the CSL’s 3.2-litre straight six is something quite special. The addition of a carbon airbox on a road car is what car really sets the CSL apart from other M power models providing a visceral, race-car howl that is layered beautifully throughout the rev range.

The semi-automatic six-speed SMG II system with automated electrohydraulic clutch provides fiercely punctuated, lightning fast gear shifts.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

BMW always get it right when it comes to wheel design and the CSL’s spokes are a modern classic – slightly wider than the standard car’s and they fill the arches perfectly well. In excellent condition all round, Michelin Pilot Sports adorn all four corners.

Brakes show plenty of life and perform as they should.

One of the final cars registered in March of 2004 by Whitehouse Ruxley, this CSL has a fantastic service record to accompany it’s low mileage;
