1969 LOTUS ELAN

motodrome offer for sale this iconic 1969 Lotus Elan Series 4 Fixed Head Coupe.

I will start by stating , that whilst this one is dressed as an Elan Sprint, for the avoidance of doubt it’s actually a Series 4, not a Sprint.

This one has just come to us directly from the last owner, who’s had it since 1998.

He’s very well-known in Elan racing circles, and is obviously steeped in them, and he built this one with what he regards as the ideal setup for road use. .

It’s an original 1969 ‘black badge’ example, with the correct badging and Colin Chapman signed steering wheel.

It was fully stripped and rebuilt around a new galvanised chassis between 2005 and 2010, and painted in Gold Leaf colours, and years on it still looks very sharp.

He tells us that at the same time the engine was reconditioned, converted to unleaded, and fitted with twin Webers in place of the original Strombergs.

It’s further fitted with solid rear driveshafts, Spyder Engineering front wishbones, adjustable shock absorbers, a larger capacity radiator, and an alumninium fuel tank.

As ever with these legendary cars, the driving experience is pin sharp.
