Description
After owning my S6 for a little over 8years it doesn't get used very often any more and funds are needed more for house renovations.
It took me a fair while to find this particular S6 when I bought it being the fairly rare facelift model, in Sprint blue with black interior and carbon fibre trim. It is very well spec'd with the following:
- DAB Radio, DVD Player, Media Player/Jukebox & Bluetooth Phone & Audio,
- Radar-guided cruise control,
- Reversing camera, front and rear parking sensors,
- LED ambiance lighting,
- Carbon fibre trims
- Soft-close doors all around,
- Self-dimming interior and door mirrors,
- Heated memory front seats,
- LED rear lights,
- Xenon headlights,
- Power tailgate,
- Audi swivel retractable towbar,
- Full size spare wheel,
- BMC Air Filters,
- Matching set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersport Tyres,
I have maintained this fastidiously myself using mainly genuine Audi parts. In the last 12months it has had:
- New front brakes (August ~25miles on them),
- New rear brakes (January ~1500miles on them) [Genuine],
- Brake fluid replaced (August) [ATE Fluid],
- New O/S front CV boots (September) [Genuine],
- New rear springs (August) [Genuine],
- Replacement headlight lenses with all new Osram Nightbreaker bulbs & Ballasts (July),
- N/S rocker cover gasket replaced (January) [Genuine],
- BMC Air Filters cleaned and re-oiled (August),
- Fuel and Oil Filter replaced (January 89389miles) [Genuine],
- Tailgate latch replaced (December) [Genuine]
- Passenger side mirror motor replaced (March) [Used Genuine],
- Rear washer jet replaced (December) [Genuine],
- Fuel filler cap replaced (December) [Genuine].
I maintained the main dealer servicing up until the car was 10years (71k miles) old but I did not like the 2year service interval so have always supplemented the dealer oil changes with an additional oil/filter change so that it only goes 12months between changes. I have always used genuine Audi oil filter, fuel filter and sump plugs and used the correct 5W40 fully synthetic ester oils (normally Fuchs Titan Race or Gulf Racing). It has also had the rear axle oil changed Jan 23', coolant changed Feb 23' and new NGK spark plugs Jan 23' along with a new aux belt and tensioner. Despite Audi claiming a 'sealed for life' transmission, I instead took the advice of ZF and had the transmission oil and filter changed by a ZF agent just after purchasing the car (55k miles).
When I bought it, it did not have its original alloy wheels but instead some aftermarket ones. As the original ones for the facelift S6 are almost impossible to find, I have instead fitted a set of genuine Audi wheels from a mk3 TTS. These are the correct 19x9 size with ET52 offset which exactly matches the original factory fit wheels without any need for wheel spacers and enables the original sized 265/35R19 tyres to fit without issue. These wheels are fairly close to the original design and suit the car well in my opinion and have the advantage of being forged as far as I know.
I have a big folder of receipts for pretty much every part it has had in my ownership. Also have the original document folder and handbook etc,
Its MOT history could not be much cleaner having only had one advisory and one failure in its entire life (nail in tyre and ran out of screen wash on its first MOT)! It always breezes through its emissions too.
I fitted the towbar to enable to to tow our old caravan which it did easily a few times. I also used it to tow my Ifor Williams box trailer whilst we were moving house. Towing was effortless as you can imagine!
Mechanically I would say it is in amazing condition, the bodywork still looks great but has the expected stone chips and a couple of scuffs on the front bumper as expected of a 15 year old daily car.
The only issues I am aware of are that the central display on the instruments sometimes goes off, it has always come back after a day or so though. There is also a little bit of oil around the oil level sensor on the bottom of the sump (I have a genuine new seal for this so is really easy to do at the next oil change).
It is currently SORN and squeezed into the garage so mileage wont go up. 2 sets of keys (both even with keyrings from the original dealer) and will come with the genuine Audi dog guard with cargo divider, genuine rubber mats, genuine cargo lashing points, set of roof bars and a boot liner.
