1933 MG

An interesting MG J2 that has a fascinating history. See the article attached.

Well-known car and owner in the Car Club, and unfortunately for sale due to a bereavement.

As well as the articles that cover the cars' very early history, here are some words written by the last owner. I'm helping the family to find a new keeper for the car, and as I dealt with a 1929 MG a couple of years ago for someone else in the club, I was asked to get involved.

From the last owner...

When purchased, it was fitted with a BMC A series engine and gearbox but came with original block, front and rear housings, clutch, flywheel and manifolds.

The engine has been professionally rebuilt with Phoenix crank and rods, all new parts in the head, including Baynton-Jones fast road camshaft.

Lightened flywheel. All new clutch parts. Engine balanced.

New two-brush dynamo from S & V, new gears top and bottom.

Original carbs and starter motor sourced by me.

The steering box was rebuilt by Ken Robinson, and a new drop arm was fitted. All steering parts were crack-tested and found to be sound.

5 new wheels fitted with Avon SM Mk2 4.00 x 19 tyres

New wiring loom fitted.

New brake cables, bushes, camshafts, and linings.

New cast iron 8" brake drums fitted. These give surprisingly good braking.

New 8/43 CWP fitted. The diff is caged to give added strength and reliability.

New exhaust system.

No hood or side screens, but the tonneau and hood frame are present.

Car has given some 3,000 miles of reliable, pleasurable motoring since the rebuild. This includes driving down to the Grand Prix Retro in the Loire.

Car comes with an extensive history file, including bills from the rebuild.
