The Mercedes-Benz CLK 63 AMG Black Series

It is one of the purest and most uncompromising vehicles AMG has ever built. Introduced in 2007, it was developed from the successful Formula 1 safety car of the time and represents the essence of what AMG understands to be a road-legal race car. The model is based on the CLK of the C209 series, but has been extensively revised and largely redesigned to take the connection between the racetrack and the road to a new level. Under the hood is a hand-built 6.2-liter V8 naturally aspirated engine with the internal designation M156. The eight-cylinder engine delivers 507 hp at 6,800 rpm and develops a maximum torque of 630 Nm at 5,250 rpm. This enables the CLK 63 AMG Black Series to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds and ultimately reach an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h. Power is transmitted by the AMG Speedshift 7G Tronic automatic transmission, which has been specially tuned to the characteristics of the engine and features a manual shift function. The chassis has been extensively revised for the Black Series. The suspension, with newly developed wishbones, coilover struts, and adjustable stabilizers, allows precise adjustment of track, camber, and height. The wider track, stiffer body, and consistent use of lightweight components give the vehicle impressive driving dynamics and direct steering feel.

Visually, the Black Series differs significantly from the standard AMG models. Wider fenders, large air intakes, a pronounced front apron, diffuser, and fixed rear spoiler made of carbon fiber underscore its motorsport DNA. The wheel spacers and 19-inch forged wheels not only give it a powerful look, but also improve road holding. Behind the rims is a high-performance braking system with large, perforated, and internally ventilated brake discs, which ensure precise pedal feel and enormous deceleration values. The interior is pure racing. Everything superfluous has been omitted. The rear seats have been removed to save weight. The driver and front passenger sit in RECARO sports bucket seats. The AMG Performance steering wheel with shift paddles, the carbon interior, and the minimalist controls convey an uncompromisingly sporty ambience. With only 700 units produced worldwide, the CLK 63 AMG Black Series is now a coveted icon of the AMG world. It embodies the transition between classic mechanics and modern technology. While later Black Series models such as the SLS AMG Black Series or the GT Black Series focused more on aerodynamics and electronics, the CLK 63 BS stands for raw, unadulterated power and mechanical precision. A tribute to the era of high-revving naturally aspirated engines.

The history of this Black Series began with its completion in February 2008, after which the vehicle was delivered to Spain. It was first registered there shortly afterwards on April 28, 2008. However, during its years in Spain, the CLK was hardly driven, which is why the first service on April 16, 2014, by Mercedes-Benz Madrid shows a mileage of only 170 km. The vehicle was then sold to Germany, where a general inspection was carried out on May 9, 2014, with a mileage of 240 km. On September 11, 2014, the owner, who lives near Rostock, decided to register the car in his name, which is still the only entry in the German vehicle registration document. While in his possession, the vehicle was rarely driven, meaning that by the time of the next TÜV inspection on March 22, 2017, the mileage had only increased to 818 km. On July 16, 2018, he deregistered the AMG, but kept it for several more years, during which time he had it serviced at Mercedes-Benz Rostock on November 24, 2021, which was noted in the service booklet with a mileage of 846 km. In addition, the Mercedes dealer noted on the accompanying invoice that there was no doubt about the accuracy of the mileage stated. In addition, a third vehicle key was made, which is now available alongside the original dashboard folder. In 2022, the enthusiast finally decided to part with the CLK and sold it near Mannheim. The car remained there, without being re-registered, in a collection for the following years until we acquired it there at the end of 2025. Immediately after transporting it to Mechatronik, we carried out a major service in our AMG specialist workshop to ensure its technical condition after many years in storage. In its sensational condition, with a mileage of only 850 km since its initial delivery, this CLK 63 AMG Black Series offers a unique opportunity for collectors of special AMG vehicles of the highest standard.
