Overview

You know you're on to a winner when your overarching design remains unchanged for decades despite developments in manufacturing techniques, advancements in technology and rapidly changing trends, but that's exactly what happened with Morgan. Some vehicles just have a lasting cultural impact and Morgan's 3 Wheeler is one such example.

The company's first production cars to feature a single rear wheel appeared way back in 1911, with the latest incarnation having been produced from 2012 to 2021 and whilst the layout remained the same throughout, the 3 wheeler is very much a modern interpretation with a lot more going on in the engine department than those early efforts.

Featuring a 2.0-litre S&S V-Twin motorcycle engine mated to a tried and tested Mazda MX-5 five-speed gearbox, the Morgan 3 Wheeler produces just over 80bhp but thanks to its incredibly low kerb weight, 0-60mpg is despatched in about six seconds before reaching 115mph flat out. In reality the car feels so much quicker though as all of your senses are assaulted in the process, in a wonderfully visceral way.

Morgan itself describes the car as “a rebellion against sanitised, modern motoring”, extolling its sense of adventure and attitude with a “no frills, all thrills” character, and it’s a rather accurate and alluring narrative. Offering an unmatched driving experience and simultaneously looking like nothing else on the road, the car oozes quirky British charm whilst being an absolute blast to pilot.

This incredibly low mileage late 2021 model is in great condition throughout and comes to market in a desirable factory specification with all of the additional features, upgrades and reliability improvements that were introduced over the model's almost decade long production run.

A single owner car it comes with full main dealer service history and is presented in a handsome shade of Dove Grey over Honey Tan ‘Yarwood’ leather-trimmed interior and includes A-10 jet-inspired decals, including tail numbers from an actual A-10. It's a great looking, usable example that has been meticulously maintained and is reported to be running perfectly.

  • New OEM Banner battery installed last summer

  • Battery cut-off to conserve charge if not used for extended periods

  • Two spare tyres included

  • No mechanical issues to report

  • The vendor reports that the car drives, stops and sounds better than new due to some early niggles and although it does have the usual vibrations and low speed clatter typical of these cars, it then sounds like you're driving a .50 calibre machine gun once you get going!

Summary

Visceral, raw and ridiculously fun to drive it's easy to understand why these cars have such a devoted following and the pure sense of adventure whenever you climb behind the wheel of a Morgan 3 Wheeler will forever be intoxicating. Don't just take our word for it though. Highly commended and decorated WW1 English fighter pilot Albert Ball once famously claimed that driving his Morgan was the closest experience to flying without ever actually leaving the ground. Tally-ho!
