Description

Our 2.0 litre Spider was first registered in the Channel Islands by a family who would own this car for 30 years, re-registering and keeping it at their home in England from 1978. It was originally Ivory in colour, with the same Black plasticised fabric interior it wears today.
Professionally restored in the period to 2023 with only modest use since, accordingly, this car is impressive throughout. This is the rare right-hand drive Alfa Spider with the characterful 2.0 litre engine which is surprisingly spritely, especially evident given how close your bum is to the floor when you’re driving….
The maintenance of this car even before its thorough rebirth and restoration has been impressive. In 2011 some £2,000 was invested on cylinder head gaskets, clutch slave cylinder, rear prop UJ, and replaced starter motor. In 2020, four new tyres. During Spring of 2021, the Dell‘Orto 45 DHLA carburettors were rebuilt. Having had replacement sills in 2020, by October 2022 the decision was made to fully restore and repaint the body of the car in the Silver you see now. Paint Monkey Ltd of Cullompton, nr Exeter, were enlisted and several thousand pounds spent to achieve what is an excellent job. Post-paintwork, this Alfa was rebuilt with replacement windscreen, door seals, seat belts, door mirrors etc.
Now looking the part, in May 2023 the gearbox was rebuilt and implanted with new clutch, new flywheel and all assemblies and ancillaries. New lightweight hi-torque starter motor, propshaft overhaul, balanced carburettors, and adjusted ignition timing (with later fitment of 123 electronic ignition, Bosch blue coil and silicon HT leads). Also in this period was the fitment of the stainless-steel tubular exhaust system, new rear wheel bearings and half shaft oil seals. The total spend in Spring of 2023, some further £5,800.
Exceptional road manners are courtesy of Classic Alfa fast road suspension (uprated springs, Koni shock absorbers and thicker front roll bar), New brake discs and pads all round, new radiator and new fuel tank. … It really is tremendous attention to detail that makes this car so special.
Through this transformation our Alfa Romeo was the property of a skilled and knowledgeable engineer in the West Country who has mindfully kept all invoices and written several detailed pages of what’s been attributed to this car which will benefit future maintenance. If you come to view, please budget enough time to read the impressive history file.
Your serious attention is welcomed. An interesting part-exchange will always be considered.
