History

Originally supplied new by H&J Quick Ltd of Old Trafford, Manchester, this RS1600i was first registered to a florist in Shoreditch.

It has had just 5 former keepers in its 42-year history.

Accompanying the car is a great history file including its original dealer booklets, neatly preserved in the supplying dealer sleeve.

Service & MOT History dating back to almost new is within the history file, up until the car was taken off the road, the car will have a fresh service & MOT at point of sale & of course has to pass Appreciating Classics comprehensive PDI requirments so you can rest assured the car is every bit as good as you would hope.

Body & Paintwork

Finished in the iconic Sunburst Red, the paintwork is presented in great condition throughout.

Having lived most of its life as a showpiece, the bodywork presents very well as you would fully hope.

All trims& decals are in superb order, as are all badges.

All glass appears to be original & has the registration etched, the boot spoiler is excellent without the usual ‘sagging’ that they suffer with.

The front lower spoiler is a NOS piece & as such present as brand new, as do all the (correct) driving lamps.

Wheels are unmarked & are fitted with period correct Dunlop D4 tyres.

A really excellent example.

Interior & Trim

Inside, the RS1600i retains its factory Shark Grey crushed velour seats, which remain in remarkable condition, showing minimal wear.

The factory options of electric windows, rear seat belts & a radio cassette player are all still in place of course.

The steering wheel, gear knob, pedal rubbers & handbrake lever are all in excellent condition, as are the carpets & the correct ‘waffle mats’

Dash is uncracked & all switchgear is excellent.

As you can see from the pictures, this is a truly fantastic car.

Engine

As can clearly be seen from the pictures, this RS 1600i presents beautifully under the bonnet.

Still fitted with the original twin coil setup, this 1600i runs extremely well, be it from cold or when warm, starting with the first turn of the key & idling exactly as it should do.

A lovely quiet engine on cold start, with no smoke either on idle, or when on the road.

Smooth performance through the rev range without any hesitations.

Running Gear

The underside is truly immaculate & presents as well as the rest of the car. Having had a underside restoration this car is arguably better than when it left the Ford factory 42 years ago.

This car remains in original specification, even down to its period-correct Dunlop SP Super Sport D4 tyres, underlining its concours-winning pedigree.
