2008 Caterham

The Levante was the ultimate poster Caterham, and without doubt, the fastest Seven ever made!

These ultimate Sevens were made in collaberation between Caterham, RST and Mountune. Two versions of these downright crazy Caterhams exist. The original version was a 2.4L V8, but this was no normal V8. It had not been borrowed from another manufacturer like Rover and tinkered with, instead, this V8 was made by lashing two 1200cc Yamaha engines together, and attaching them to a custom made block and crank. As if this wasnt enough, this was then supercharged for good measure. The result was an engine which produced 550bhp, exquisetly packaged into a CSR chassis. Only five of these mosters were ever made. The slightly later 2nd gen Levante was made using an equally ridiculous V6 engine, and resolved the obvious issue of the V8 not having enough power, by generating 600bhp! Just seven of these V6’s were made.

New, these RST Levante’s were sold for £115,000+VAT, which might sound like a lot, but when you are looking at a four wheel machine which produces close to 1000bhp per tonne, the competition is quite a bit more pricey.

This particular example was ordered new from the factory by a Le Mans race winner, and was immediately placed into a private collection. It was never registered, and it was never used. In 2018 it was sold to it’s current owner, who “drove it to the end of the road and back” before putting into storage. This V8 Levante looks and presents as a new car, with no more than a handful of miles ever completed.

When sold, it will be transported to Geoff Page, one of the original developers for the Levante Project and specialist engine builder, where it will be serviced and inspected for its new owner.

This is an opportunity to own one of the fastest four wheel machines on the face of the earth, and for less than the price of a well specified new 420R.
