Overview

If ever there was a car deserving of a special edition it's the Bentley Continental GT. With such an enduring legacy and famed significance for the brand the Continental GT not only saved Bentley's bacon when it was released way back in 2003 but also went on to become one of the highlights of the company's esteemed line-up. Still being made today (currently on to its fourth generation) the perennially popular Conti GT is still making waves and special editions are now par for the course.

But it's the very first generation GT that spawned the utterly sublime Supersports limited edition model. The fastest and most powerful of the crop when it debuted in 2009, this much more driver-focused incarnation marked a departure from the luxury GT characteristics of the original Continental GT in favour of a more racecar-for-the-road vibe. And it was glorious.

Able to run on both regular unleaded fuel as well E85 Bioethanol, the Bentley Continental Supersports was a stripped out version of the GT weighing a substantial 80kg lighter. Couple that with its 621bhp, 6.0-litre W12 engine with twin turbos and you get utterly face-melting performance. 0-60mph? 3.6 seconds. Ridiculous.

Power, as they say, is nothing without control but the Supersports has you covered thanks to huge carbon ceramic brakes and a firmer suspension setup, not to mention Bentley's all-wheel drive system as standard, meaning the car handles well whatever you choose throw at it, all without compromising those inherent GT cruiser characteristics.

This particular 2010 Bentley Continental Supersports comes to market in outstanding overall condition and has covered just 48K miles from new. Complete with an impressive service history the car has clearly been cherished and well maintained throughout its life. Reportedly running and driving as new by the current vendor this special edition Bentley is an incredibly alluring prospect for those that want the cruising capabilities of a Continental GT but with the added oomph and indeed kudos that comes from all of the Supersports performance enhancements.

Summary

Just when we all thought the Continental had peaked Bentley went and released this absolute weapon. Insanely fast, incredible to drive both in the twisties and on those long, cross country jaunts, and with a typically lush and well-appointed interior the Bentley Continental Supersports can seemingly do it all. A serious amount of car for the money this particular low mileage example has a lot going for it and appears to be an excellent representation of the marque.
