This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2025 on Sunday the 9th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT.
Originally a 1935 Ruby saloon, reimagined as a lightweight Special inspired by the 1934 EK Speedy, designed and built between 1997 and 2000 by ex-Land Rover engineer Ed Giblen (CEng; MIMechE)
Aluminium bodywork with panels by Roach Manufacturing and Frenchay Garage, Brooklands aero screens, relocated fuel tank and various original factory drawings used in the design
Rebuilt mechanicals with upgrades including a Mini SU carburettor, ALR inlet manifold, sports gearbox, uprated suspension and 12-volt conversion with rebuilt dynamo
Period performance enhancements result in lively road manners with 60mph cruising capability and strong oil pressure; described by the previous owner as ''goes like a bomb”
Invoices and photographs document the build, along with older MOTs showing 3,000 miles of light use up to 2012; recommissioned in 2022 by GL Motors of Hereford including a head overhaul, brake work and tune-up
Supplied with a file of photos and paperwork, several books on the Austin Seven, and a quantity of spares including original gearbox, 6v dynamo, starter motor, tools and lights
