Overview

It's pretty much universally accepted that the Mazda MX-5 sits happily in the upper echelons of top track cars and this particular post-facelift NC2 Sport Tech model takes everything that makes these cars so damn good and turns it all up to 11.

Following a £25,000 plus spend the car has been heavily modified for serious circuit shenanigans. A professionally built, high-spec track-focused rocket ship it delivers a whopping dyno-proven 300bhp thanks to some serious upgrades, including but not limited to a BBR GTI Stage 2 supercharger kit.

Make no mistake, this build isn't aimed at someone looking for a cheap MX-5 base - it’s a fully developed, track-ready car with premium components throughout. With just 62K miles from new and having reportedly seen only light and respectful track use it presents in excellent condition both inside and out and with suspension, braking, bodywork and interior upgrades to match its blistering performance. No expense has been spared in turning this MX-5 into a serious weapon and the professionalism and attention to detail is clear to see.

The full spec list can be found below but suffice to say this raucous roadster retains enough comfort for spirited road use while also being ready and raring to go at the track. A truly impressive, performance-oriented example.

Summary

Still modern enough to feel usable all year round but retaining enough old school charm to keep things more than interesting when driven enthusiastically (which is exactly where it’s most comfortable) the MX-5 NC2 remains an excellent choice, especially when said car is as impressive as this particular example.

What we have here then is the best of both worlds. On the one hand this Mazda MX-5 NC2 has been built to smash it on track and comes with impressive performance credentials as well as many uprated parts, but on the other it's still a perfectly usable, fast road car that could easily be put into regular rotation. Wherever you decide to drive it though, you'll no doubt find it difficult to remove the grin from your face…
