‍We are pleased to present for sale this glorious Morgan Plus 8, it presents beautifully today and is mechanically exceptional.

The Model

The Morgan Plus 8 was king of the Morgans. Sitting at the top of their range it expertly combined the essence of British motoring that only a Morgan can deliver but amplified through the use of a V8, it delivers the delicious growl and enormous grunt as only a V8 can.

V8's are famed for their unique sound which adds theatre to every drive thanks to a constant rumble when plodding along which develops into a growl the further you push the loud pedal, it's pretty intoxicating. Of course power is also key here and a V8 always delivers its power with an urgent ease, it's always on tap when needed but also equally quite happy to gurgle along with a relaxed authority.

The pleasure of this car is not just about its engine, it's chassis is a modified version of the Plus 4 platform, developed to fit and handle the larger V8 engine, with revised suspension settings helping further to accomodate the additional power. The current owner of the car commented that on long sweeping bends its simply a joy to drive and delivers its promise on performance with other, more modern sports cars struggling to keep up.

This Cars History

Morgan's are infamous for their long waiting lists at certain periods. This car was ordered by its original owner from Libra Motive, a well known Morgan dealer at the time who were involved in prepaing Morgans for racing for the Morgan family at the time. He ordered the car when he was a medical student as a target to help him acheive his goals, subsequently six years later, once he'd made it as a consultant and could now afford the car and it was time to confirm the specification. With six years to consider his specification it had been exceptionally well-honed and considered, detailed on file is the original order form showing his chosen spec:

- Morgan Plus 8 -Originally ordered as a 3. 9 however the spec was updated to a 4. 6 during the order period

The specification is very special and you can tell a lot of time and consideration had been taken in the commissioning of this car.

However, by the time his car was ready he had also now gained a young family which meant that he only got to use the car infrequently over summer periods and ended up putting very few miles on it and keeping it garaged in between. Originally he planned to never sell it, overtime these things change and after 24 years of ownership he parted ways with it and handed the keys to its current owner in 2021. The current owner has continued the trend of infrequent use having put only 1, 500 miles on it over his period of ownership, again keeping in tucked away in his garage between uses with regular detailing. An additional car in the family commanding garage space is the only reason for sale.

The car has been well maintained throughout its life, the current owner having it serviced last in May. In 2023 it visited the workshop for a rattle which was traced to the catalytic converters, these were then replaced with sports cats and the spark plugs upgraded to platinum ones at the owners requrest to counter the carbon build up.

The car sailed through our extensive workshop checks and was remarked as being an outstanding example by our notoriously hard to please technicians, a testiment to both its owners.

Overview

For those of you who enjoy the appeal of Morgans and are firmly in the camp of all things should come armed with V8's - this is the car for you! It's an incredibly low-mileage, well presented and mechnically sorted car. It's been truly loved that is clear. It's specification is fantastic with the chrome wire wheels contrasting with the deep Rolls-Royce Velvet Green and the stone coloured interior. Its a car that looks, feels and drives the part.
