This car is a fantastic specification and colour combo similar to the press release car, being a 3 door in Candy White with charcoal leather seats, manual gearbox and the all-important 18” Monza alloys.
- There are NO rusty arches, wings, doors, sills or boot lid and the car was fitted with mud-flaps, rubber floor mats & boot liner from new, further protecting the exterior and interior. I removed the OEM headlight protectors that came with the car, but the headlights are pristine as a result of these being fitted from new.
- No previous accident damage and the bodywork is free from dents, scuffs or marks. There are some minor stone chips as to be expected for a 17 year old car.
- The leather interior presents beautifully with very little sagging, shiny leather or wear & tear.
- Mechanically excellent with a huge history file (including original bill of sale) covering servicing & upgrades every year since new. The cam belt, water pump and cam follower have all been changed to the service schedule (last done June 2022).
When I purchased the car it had the following subtle but effective upgrades & modifications carried out by the previous owner at renowned VAG tuners R-Tech in January 2023:
- K04 turbo & injectors
- Rolling Road tuned to 310hp/305bhp & 341ft-lb/462Nm (with printout)
- Inlet manifold removal & walnut blast valves
- New Scorpion Downpipe w/High Flow Sports Cat
- New thermostat housing, fuel rail pressure sensor & NGK BKR 7EIX spark plugs
In my ownership (since April 2023) I have cared for the car immensely and carried out the following work to what was already an excellent rust-free example:
- Genuine VW GTI Anthracite Carpet Mat Set (rubber mats for daily use) - £70 - Apr 2023
- Scorpion Resonated Cat Back Exhaust - £553 - May 2023
- New OEM NSR wheel bearing, OEM NSR caliper, brake pipe & brake disc shield, plus Brembo drilled discs & pads all round and brake fluid - £1,095 - Jun 2023 (70,669 miles)
- Miller 5w40NT+ fully synthetic oil, engine flush, filter & sump plug, cabin pollen filter and drive belt tensioner - £326 - Oct 2023
- New Bosch Aerotwin wiper blades front & rear - £25 - Dec 2023
- 2 x new rear Michelin PS4 tyres & 4-wheel Hunter alignment - £280 - Dec 2023 (only 8k miles since)
- 2 x new front Michelin PS4 tyres - £246 - Feb 2024 (only 6k miles since)
- New custom anthracite suede headlining at M-Trim, Uxbridge - £300 - Apr 2024
- Alloys refurbished with first diamond cut at Bespoke Alloys, Uxbridge - £270 - June 2024
- VW centre caps and GTI seat handle insert trim - £39 - October 2024
- Genuine VW driver side internal door handle cover 1K3868050C75R (to replace original which had a minor crack) - £45 - Jan 2025
- Upgraded Osram Nightbreaker H7 headlight & dipped bulbs and LED side lights (no error codes) - £60 - February 2025
Very recently (less than 1k miles) had a rear suspension overhaul and mild underbody refurb as follows (£2,646 parts & fitting):
- Meyle (German OEM quality) links in conjunction with new subframe, with prep and underseal - May 2025
- New Racingline Performance 20mm lowering springs, Bilstein front top mounts, Powerflex “dog bone” lower engine mount insert, front ball joints and front/rear ARB links - May 2025
- MOT, 5w40NT+ fully synthetic oil, engine flush, filters and NGK BKR 7EIX spark plugs service plus replacement OEM fuel pump cam follower kit, PCV breather valve & gasket and R8 (red) coil packs - June 2025
- Lanoguard underbody protection - October 2025
Bad points:
- minor stone chips as expected for the age
- minor crack in driver’s side seat bolster (I’ve been quoted £130 by M-Trim to repair)
- under bonnet pad removed as it was looking a bit shabby (still have it if you want it)
Genuine reason for sale as I have the use of our family car and await a new Golf R. I know I overspent on buying the car in the first place and then with the upkeep and subtle modifications, but I either don’t use the GTI enough or am afraid to put too many miles on it, so would rather it is enjoyed by someone else.
I’m a mature owner who drives sensibly; this isn’t some trashed, tarted up example. It has been lovingly cared for and drives beautifully, with no knocks, bangs or rattles. She pulls really hard through the range thanks to the K04 upgrade. The ride is firm, but supple and no harsher than the standard suspension, as the Racingline springs are only a subtle drop and perfectly sprung. The stainless 3” exhaust gives a lovely tone and settles down nicely for longer motorway drives.
Supplied with an advisory-free MOT as of 14th June 2025.
Sensible offers considered, but I think the asking price is fair given the current market for good examples, and I don't think there are many this well looked after.
Thanks for looking!
PS: the exterior photos are prior to the work carried out since I got the car (i.e. exhaust, lowering springs, wheel refurb, brakes). I’ll get some fresh photos next weekend, but other than the subtle OEM+ upgrades it presents as is shown.
