Description
A truly exceptional first-generation Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon in the most sought-after colour combination - Mica Blue paint with gold Prodrive wheels - combining the rally heritage of the 1990s with the practicality and refinement of a classic estate. Imported from Japan in 2005 and remarkably preserved ever since, this is one of very few surviving early GF8 WRX wagons in the UK that has never been welded, retaining its original rust-free panels and genuine JDM integrity. It is approaching 30 years old yet feels alive, tight and ready.
I invested 4,500 to make this car mechanically superb and reliable for many years ahead. A comprehensive engine-out reseal was completed, covering rocker covers, sump, rear main seal, separator plate and crank seal. A new clutch kit, spigot bearing and upgraded gear-linkage assembly were fitted, giving a crisp, positive shift. The fuel system was refreshed with a new pump and dyno-verified fuelling; the cooling system was flushed and refilled correctly; PAS and alternator belts were replaced; the body received professional paint correction with multi-stage polish and full wax protection. The bonnet vent covers were repainted and underside covers refitted to factory specification.
The result is a dry, sealed engine, a taut, precise drivetrain, and an exterior that gleams with depth and clarity. The iconic boxer turbo delivers its signature burble through a clean, tight Kakimoto Racing exhaust, with smooth and eager power delivery that still surprises today. The ride is composed, steering communicative and the gearbox light yet mechanical - exactly as a well-sorted WRX should feel.
Inside, the car remains true to its origins with an unmodified cabin featuring the factory Nardi steering wheel and gear knob, functioning air-conditioning, and a TOAD alarm with turbo cool-down timer. Every switch works. The seats, headlining and trim are excellent, reflecting careful ownership.
Odometer reads 97,200 miles, rising slightly with light use to keep everything exercised. MOT valid until June 2026 with no advisories. Comes with a full file of receipts and detailed documentation of the recent restoration work.
This is a piece of rally-bred history - a rust-free, mechanically superb, collector-grade JDM WRX Wagon that blends performance, practicality and provenance. For the discerning enthusiast/investor, opportunities like this are now vanishingly rare.
14,995 ONO - a genuine appreciating modern classic ready to enjoy or preserve.
