Jaguar XJS 6.0 V12 Convertible - 1995/M - Immaculate
Here's another beautiful Jaguar XJS from the Murkett collection, complete with an intriguing history.
Current Owner:
For the past five years, I’ve sold several cars for this particular client, all of which have been part of his impressive Jaguar/Lister collection. This began in 2020 when Shmoo Automotive found a new home for what might have been the best example of a Lister Le Mans ever sold. (You can see that car on page 2 of my ‘For Sale’ section on the website.)
Since then, I have sold his Lister Storm, multiple 6.0 XJS models, a 4.0 Celebration model, and, most recently, a stunning black XJR-S 6.0 Manual. Three of these cars were exported, so if you’re reading this from outside the UK, don’t hesitate to send me an email, give me a call, or check out my Global Sales page.
Background of the Car:
This car was originally an American vehicle, first registered in Carmel, California. It was purchased new by the owner of La Costa Resort & Spa in San Diego. Fast forward to 2017, when the car was imported back to the UK by its 'third' owner, a well-known English fashion photographer who spent many years based in Los Angeles. He won a contract to photograph a La Costa clothing line and encountered the car, which was nearly new, at the resort back in the mid-1990s. He fondly remembers how beautiful and rare the car was. Being one of just 11 XJS 6.0 Convertibles made in 1995, out of a total of 81 cars produced from 1992 to 1995, it certainly holds special significance.
The car remained with its first owner until 2012, spending time in Arizona starting in 2009. In 2012, he sold his stake in the business and gifted the Jaguar to his personal assistant. She relocated to New Jersey in 2014 and later moved back to Carmel in 2017, which is when the car was advertised for sale. The advertisement caught the attention of the English photographer, who couldn’t be sure if it was the very same car he had adored over 20 years prior. Upon viewing the car, he was recognised by the owner, and it felt like fate; he had to buy it! Interestingly, he has owned five of the eleven cars made in 1995, a testament to the lasting impression it left on him.
The car was shipped back to the UK, where he owned it until 2020, during which it covered just 1,400 miles. By that time, it had accrued a total of 70,766 miles.
This vehicle has always been exceptionally well cared for, and in 2020, it was in superb condition. For instance, the rear boot floor panel still showcases its factory finish.
In the last five years, the car has been elevated to an even higher standard, including a right-hand drive conversion and an engine rebuild by the well-known Jaguar engine man, Nigel Boycott. Additionally, a new interior was fitted by Alderidge Trim, along with new wood veneers throughout, a stainless steel exhaust, new catalysts, a complete front suspension rebuild, new brake calipers, and more. A total of £25,000 has been spent on the vehicle, not including the countless hours the owner dedicated to working on it. During this time, the car has covered an additional 2,500 miles.
The car drives flawlessly and is undoubtedly one of the best examples of a 6.0 XJS Convertible available today.
I have a video of the car being driven, please contact me directly if you'd like to see that.
If you’re looking for something special, this is the car!
