Overview

Having turned 30 only a few years ago, Porsche’s final production air-cooled 911 - codenamed the 993 by both technicians and enthusiasts alike - is enjoying somewhat of a spotlight at the moment, and has finally taken its place alongside the iconic 930 and 964-era 911s in the automotive hall-of-fame. 

Blending the classic 911 driving characteristics with just the right amount of technology and creature comforts, the 993 is, for many, the ultimate iteration of the air-cooled 911, blending usability with an analogous driving experience, with some enthusiasts still using their 993 as a daily or regular workhorse, such is their practicality. 

Some examples, however, were spared the hard work of being a daily ‘hack’ and this particular C4 is one of those. Offered for sale from long-term ownership, this 911 has covered less than 30,000 miles from new, and has been serviced exclusively by Porsche dealerships throughout its lifetime.

Reported by the seller to be wholly original, and presenting in showroom-like condition throughout with only a few small imperfections to testify to its age, this must be one of the best examples on the market today, and we anticipate plenty of interest in this 993 C4 when bidding commences…

Interior

• Two-tone grey and blue leather interior in outstanding, showroom-quality condition throughout

• Period Sony multi-CD changer stereo unit

• The high-traffic areas such as the shifter, steering wheel and switchgear all present very well with virtually no signs of wear, save for some slight discoloration to the shifter

• Being particular, we note a very small imperfection on the outer lower bolster for the front passenger seat

• There is some slight wear/staining noted to the light grey carpet running along the sides of the centre console/transmission tunnel

• Up above, the blue leather headlining is taut and clean throughout

• In the front, the luggage compartment - or ‘frunk in Porsche parlance - is clean and tidy, with no heavy staining or sagging noted to the carpets

• Notably, the options sticker remains affixed to the inside of the bonnet, and the luggage compartment light is working

• No reported faults or issues

Exterior

• Midnight Blue Metallic bodywork in excellent condition

• The seller notes that the bodywork and paint is original, save for a small supermarket car park scuff which was repaired by Porsche agents and given a lifetime guarantee

• As expected on a vehicle of this age, the front end - particularly the lower front bumper area - shows some stone chips and light blemishes

• The front headlight lenses are clear and free of damage

• There is a small stone chip on the lower driver’s side sill

• The exhaust tips show some slight age-related patination

• Classic ‘Cup’ alloy wheels, with no sign of any kerb rash or damage

• Overall, an incredibly well-kept example of the final air-cooled 911 that would look at home in any serious Porsche collection

Mechanical

• 3,596cc air-cooled flat-six engine, producing 281bhp from the factory

• Six-speed manual transmission, sending power to all four wheels

• At the rear, the engine bay is in great shape and presents very well, with no obviously discernible issues or problems to address

• The seller notes that the car is in excellent mechanical health with the car “starting and driving as new”, and that the underside is in “as good condition as the rest of the body”

• No modifications from factory specification, and no aftermarket additions

• Full Porsche Centre / dealer service history, with the latest service being carried out less than 10 miles prior to photography taking place
