At the conclusion of 964 production, Porsche retained 93 Turbo chassis, which were subsequently transferred to Porsche Exclusive for hand assembly as the highly exclusive 964 Turbo 3.6 S.

As a result of the ‘S’ package, all units were equipped with the 'Works Increased Horsepower' X88 engine option, featuring a larger single KKK turbocharger with increased boost and a more efficient intercooler. The M64/50S X88 air-cooled flat-six engine produced 385 horsepower at 5,750 rpm, representing a 25-horsepower increase over the standard 3.6 Turbo. Torque was raised to 384 pound-feet and became available at lower engine speeds. These special models incorporated 928/968-style retractable pop-up headlamps, standard Turbo sheet metal, asymmetrical 959-style air intakes on both rear quarter panels, a specialized front air splitter, a louvered rear wing enclosing the intercooler, quadruple exhaust tips, and 18-inch 'Speedline for Porsche' modular light-alloy wheels.

The example presented here is one of just 12 right-hand drive examples and one of 27 X84 models offered to buyers outside North America and Japan. Delivered new to Hong Kong in January 1994, this HK-registered flatnose featured a paint to sample color of Viola Metallic and coupled with a leather to sample color Rubicongrau.
