The Mercedes-Benz SLK 55 AMG Black Series

The SLK Black Series was the first model in the exclusive Black Series range from Mercedes-AMG and was produced between 2006 and 2008. Under the bonnet was a powerful 5.5-litre V8 engine with 400 hp at 5,750 rpm and 520 Nm of torque at 3,750 rpm. This enabled the roadster to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in around 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 280 km/h. The vehicle was based on the SLK of the R171 generation, but was given numerous revisions: The body width was increased by widening the wings, a fixed carbon fibre hardtop replaced the normal folding roof, and large air intakes and wider 235/35 ZR19 wheels at the front and 265/30 ZR19 wheels at the rear emphasised the performance character. The kerb weight was 1,495 kg. This made the Black Series variant 45 kg lighter than the regular SLK 55 AMG. The suspension was also designed for maximum dynamics. KW coilover suspension struts allowed precise tuning, the braking and cooling system was reinforced and the rear axle ratio and drive unit were given an AMG-specific design. The model also set visual accents with carbon fibre on the wing mirrors, roof and doors, a striking front apron and unmistakable AMG Black Series details such as four exhaust tailpipes and Recaro sports bucket seats in the interior.

The interior was trimmed for pure sportiness with lightweight construction elements. An AMG Performance steering wheel covered in leather and Alcantara, combined with the bucket seats, ensured ideal vehicle control. Additional comfort elements were reduced to a minimum, yet the vehicle remained usable in everyday life. The workmanship, materials and technology clearly demonstrated the aspiration to create a road-legal high-performance vehicle that was also reminiscent of a racing car. This special model was produced in limited numbers. According to the Mercedes-Benz archive, only 120 SLK 55 AMG Black Series were built. The original price in Germany was around 107,300 euros. Today, the SLK 55 AMG Black Series is one of the most sought-after collector's vehicles, as it epitomises the first Black Series generation. Because a vehicle is only launched every few years due to the low production numbers, the opportunity to acquire such a model is extremely rare. With its combination of high performance, low weight and exclusive components, the SLK 55 AMG Black Series set the standard for the subsequent Black Series models of the CLK, SL, C, SLS and GT. For enthusiasts, this model communicates pure passion for driving dynamics and technology. A quantitatively rare and qualitatively impressive highlight in AMG history.

The history of this SLK Black Series began on 27 June 2007, the specified production date. The subsequent first delivery was made to Mercedes-AMG itself. The manufacturer first registered the Black Series in Affalterbach on 24 August 2007 with the registration number ‘LB-MA 5514’. In the following years, AMG used the vehicle as a works car and serviced it itself in accordance with the regulations on the following dates: on 16 February 2009 with 8,573 km and on 25 March 2010 with 15,785 km, as can be seen in the service booklet. After several years in the hands of Mercedes-AMG, the vehicle was finally sold to a private AMG enthusiast, who registered the vehicle on 2 April 2012, making him the second and, to date, last owner. The owner treated the vehicle with the utmost care and only drove it in a decent manner in good weather. Over the following 13 years of ownership, he looked after the vehicle with the utmost affection, which is reflected in its very good current condition. At the end of 2025, the decision was finally made to part with the rare Black Series, which led to its purchase by Mechatronik. According to the previous owner, it was clear to him that only Mechatronik would be a suitable partner for such a rare AMG, which is why he offered us the Black Series exclusively. Prior to its release, a fresh service was carried out in our workshop specialising in AMG. Today, the collector's item with a mileage of 36,400 kilometres including the original on-board folder and only two registered previous owners is for sale in very good condition. Furthermore, this is the only SLK 55 AMG Black Series to have been offered to the public for several years, making the vehicle a rare opportunity for the collectors' market.
