Introduced at the 2004 Paris Motor Show, the Ferrari F430 represented a major evolution of the successful 360 Modena, incorporating both styling and engineering inspiration from the marque’s contemporary Formula 1 programme. Beneath the Pininfarina-penned bodywork lay an all-new 4.3-litre V8 engine developing 483bhp at 8,500rpm, propelling the car to 60mph in just 4.0 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 190mph. The F430 also debuted Ferrari’s now-famous E-Diff electronic differential and the steering wheel-mounted manettino switch, allowing the driver to tailor handling characteristics to road or track conditions.

The open-topped Spider variant—introduced in 2005—offered all the performance of the coupé with the added drama of open-air motoring. Its fully automatic folding roof stowed neatly beneath a sculpted tonneau cover, preserving the car’s striking silhouette.
