2002 Porsche 996.2 Cup Car – Factory Speed Yellow VIP Edition

We’re pleased to offer this 2002 Porsche 996.2 Cup Car, benefiting from the subtle but important factory upgrades over the earlier 2000 and 2001 model years.

Built by Porsche Motorsport and based largely on the 996 GT3 road car, these factory Cup cars deliver close to 400 hp and feature a 6-speed H-pattern manual gearbox, offering a raw and engaging driving experience.

This particular example, chassis number WP0ZZZ99Z2S698058, is believed to be one of just two factory VIP cars finished in Speed Yellow—part of a trio of special colour cars built in homage to the German flag, with one in each of the national colours: yellow, black, and red.

The car was previously restored and repainted in gunmetal grey, a colour still visible in the interior. However, the original Speed Yellow paint remains visible on the roll cage surrounding the factory stickers. We’ve recently had the exterior professionally refinished in its correct Speed Yellow to bring it back to its intended appearance.

We believe these factory Cup cars are beginning to gain the recognition they deserve—whether as entries into early 2000s race series or as investment-grade trackday machines.
