Originally purchased by me as the third owner August 1992 at 31,390 miles

Sold by me October 2004 at 80,500. Purchased back from the October 2004 purchaser May 2016 at 91,100

BR Motorsport cylinder head gas flow - effectively the BRM 240A (original BR Motorsport brochure included) conversion (40,200 miles), Scorpion SS exhaust (64,000 miles), hybrid turbo (64,000 miles), Dialynx manifold (76,400 miles), cambelt (79,400 miles), major recommission by Pete Berry in September 2016 – inc front & rear suspension rebuild/refurb (91,925 miles), new Toyo T1-R 225 50 15 91V tyres January 2017, respray May 2018.

The car has a full leather interior, with custom (from the MCA days) additional door speaker cabinets, which do boost audio performance – the head unit put in by the previous owner is pretty awful, and at least aesthetically speaking needs replacing, but the sound of 5 cylinders sounds better!

Bought back by me on a wave of nostalgia when I saw it on eBay in 2016 but sadly hasn’t seen much use due to competition from a 993 C4S and really needs regular use. Having known the car so long a real wrench!

It still turns heads, and with the sensible mods, still has some really good modern world performance – and that engine noise…….

This is a rare care – approx. 180 MB’s I recall were sold in the UK during the relatively short late-1987 to late-1989 production run. The MB version was the stepping stone to the final 20v version, having pretty much all that version’s features apart from the greater cost of running, but being a major improvement over the WR version.

Many classic car reviews cite the MB as being the ‘sweet’ spot in quattro history, but having read this far, you will probably know that!!
