First registered 1st September 2015 but ordered new 14th June 1988 and supplied with certificate of newness by Caterham 1st July the same year. One of the first deDion suspension (introduced 1985) with 5-speed XR4i gearbox (introduced 1986) limited slip diff (introduced the same year) and all round disc brakes (introduced 1988). Full options list including Rostyle leather individual seats, oil cooler, Cibie lights, air horns and s/s brake hoses specified at the time.

Current owner purchased 30th October 2024 @ 2,635mls and undertook the following work:

- Cylinder head removed, valve seats suitable for unleaded fuel along with suitable valves and bronze valve guides fitted by South Cerney Engineering (all valves/seats/guides – not just exhausts as commonly done)

- Cylinder head refitted with Adjusa head gasket, new solid pushrods (Burton Power), steel rocker posts (Burton Power), spacers (my own), steel competition rocker shaft

(Burton Power) and lightened rockers

- New Ignition 123+ distributor fitted – this allows mappable advance curve for ignition and provides reliable electronic ignition, also enables immobilisation of the car from your phone – I can supply the pass number upon sale to connect from phone with app

- New Magnacore ignition lead set fitted

- Both Weber 40DCOE (original, Italian made – not later Spanish examples) carburettors fully stripped, cleaned and rebuilt with genuine Weber seals, gaskets, jets and floats, manifold matched to cylinder head and fitted with Cometic gasket and genuine MISAB plates and bobbins, carbs setup with correct deflection on new bobbins.

- Both K&N air filters cleaned, properly oiled, carbs fitted with short trumpets and

filters replaced

- New 74 degree thermostat fitted, new alloy radiator and silicone hoses fitted for

reliability.

- Exhaust headers trued flat and fitted to cylinder head with Cometic large bore gaskets

- Filter King Malpassi fuel pressure regulator with integral filter fitted with pressure adjusted to 3.5psi to suit Weber 40DCOE’s

- Gearbox top cover removed, oil removed, interior of gearbox cleaned, top cover replaced with Quaife alloy cover for stiffness and oil replaced with Redline MTL

- Diff oil removed, flushed and replaced with Redline 75/140

- Rear hubs, bearing carriers, driveshafts and brake assemblies removed, driveshafts regreased, new bearings and seals fitted along with Redline red molly grease and built

back up with new brake discs, brake callipers, rebuilt carriers (with new pins and

seals) and brake pads

- Rear Spax dampers replaced (wrong ones fitted by previous owner)

- Front hubs, bearings, stub axles, brake assemblies and trunnions stripped out, trunnions cleaned and oiled with correct GL4 Redline 90 oil, new uprated stub axles (current spec from Caterham) fitted with uprated sealed bearings (current spec from Caterham), new forged hubs (old ones had typical cracks around wheel studs from previous owner overtightening wheel nuts), new brake discs, callipers and brake pads.

- New brake master cylinder fitted (genuine Caterham/AP) and entire braking system

filled/bled with Castrol Dot4 React brake fluid.

- Cooling system filled with Motul Autocool pink

- Engine oil drained and refilled with Fuchs Race 15/50 fully synthetic engine oil, oil filter replaced with genuine Ford item, magnetic Goldplug sump plug fitted. Since the work above the engine oil and filter have been replaced every time the car has reached another 1,000mls on the mileage (so @ 3K, 4K, 5K and 6K) along with all levels checked, trunnions oiled and prop joints greased. New alternator fitted at around 5K miles.

- Full underbody and chassis rustproof treatment with ACF50 and Jenolite Waxoil spray.
