The Silver Shadow was introduced in the mid-1960s and represented a big shift for Rolls-Royce. Unlike earlier models, which were more “coach-built” in feel, the Shadow had a more modern construction: a monocoque (unitary) body rather than separate chassis + body. This lovely piece of Rolls Royce Motors history was supplied to its original owner on the 1st August 1972 by James Young/ Jack Barclay at a cost of £9304.31 (Original Build Sheet and Supplying Invoice in the file). The ownership of this Rolls Royce is as follows; 1st owner had the car for 16yrs from new and sold the car to 2nd owner in 1988 who kept it for a further 4yrs before being acquired by its 3rd owner in 1992 who kept it for just 1yr and 575 miles. The 4th owner purchasing the car in 1993, would then enjoy the car for the next 7yrs, before parting ways and selling it in 2000. The 5th owners had the car for the next 3yrs covering only 800 miles before transferring it to 6th owner in 2003 that had the car for the next 10yrs and in this time, the car covered only 2700 miles. in 2013 the car changed hands over to the current family who have owned the car for the last 12 yrs and have covered only 2300 miles.
