2010 PORSCHE CAYMAN

The time has come to admit defeat and move on my mid life crisis. A year and four months of not having back seats has finally taken its toll. There are only so many times I can borrow other folks cars for dump runs and child ferrying duties! The Porsche itch has been scratched for now but I know one day I will be back as there really is nothing like them.

I purchased the car in August of 2024 from well known Porsche specialist Philip Raby Specialist Cars. Having been scouring the market for the right spec for the best part of a year this car came up and I was lucky enough to be first in with a deposit. I had set my sights on a 987.2 which is the last Cayman with the hydrologic steering rack and DFI engines so I didn’t have the worry of the 987.1 bore scoring.

The car has pretty much the perfect spec I was looking for, only missing sports seats and Bose, however all the essentials are present and correct. Even some very rare boxes ticked such as Design pack (includes lightweight cayman r/spyder alloys) and limited slip diff. Also has some unusual extras added that even Philip himself hadn’t seen like a rear luggage partition and sun screen! The car comes with great history and receipts of work throughout and even includes a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity!

Not long after collecting the car it was apparent the tyres despite having decent tread were on the twilight of their life so I replaced all four with the brand new and brilliant Continental Sport Contact 7 which transformed the ride, handling and comfort of the car along with making a night and day difference to the dry and wet weather grip.

In March this year the car threw a check engine light and was sent to local Porsche specialist Geo Morrison Motors. A scan revealed a lambda sensor issue so both were replaced. The car was also given a look over and the report back was that the car was in fantastic condition and all of the common issues like air con pipes and bushes were in good condition. The only marks on the car are two tiny pin prick stone chips on the front bumper, and a tiny rash on one wheel, I have included pics.

I also took some preventative measures and replaced the air oil separator along with new OEM Brembo brake pads on the rear along with new pins as it was noted in the inspection that they might need replaced within the next year.

Other than that the car has been faultless. I’m sure whomever buys it next will have as many happy miles as I have. I am not in a rush to sell and if need be will keep harassing friends and relatives so no silly offers please.
