Overview

When it comes to 911s, there are so many model variations and trim levels that it can be bewildering to those not steeped in Stuttgart lore. Thankfully, if you want a 911 that’s usable on the road but also capable of completely monstering any track you point it at, then you only need to look for one model: the GT3 RS.

The ‘standard’ GT3 is certainly a very quick car, more than enough for the vast majority of drivers, in fact. However, when it comes to absolutely nailing those sector times and then trundling home in air conditioned comfort, then the RS is definitely the one to go for. The RS model widens and lightens the car while keeping it perfectly usable for normal roads. They’re incredibly capable and exhilarating machines. Tricky to get your hands on too – Porsche sell them in limited numbers and even getting your name on the waiting list is akin to one of the tasks of Hercules.

One of the main attractions for the 997.1 generation of GT3 RS is that the powertrain is so incredibly special. That 3.6-litre naturally aspirated flat-six howls and revs like a racecar, while the manual transmission offers all the interaction you could possibly want. In these days of turbocharged hybrids and double-clutch gearboxes, it’s analogue in the very best way.

Of course, as with any rare and desirable performance car, finding a good one – especially one that’s been well cared for and hasn’t been thrashed to within an inch of its life – is always the trick. Well, it just so happens that, once again, your wonderful friends here at PH Towers have gone and done it. We’re delighted to present this lovely 997 GT3 RS, in fabulous condition inside and out, and with just 7,258 miles on the clock.

Yes, you read that right, it’s a barely run-in 997 GT3 RS. As close as you can get to driving nirvana without having to make some kind of ill-advised crossroads deal with an otherworldly entity. Just take a moment to glance over the history and images – it’s clear that this is a very special machine indeed.

Whether you’re looking for an intoxicatingly involving performance car for high days and holidays, or a low-mileage rarity as an investment, then this simply has to be considered…

Summary

There aren’t many cars that would make it into pretty much every petrolhead’s dream garage, but the GT3 RS is probably one of the few. It just does everything incredibly well, is built superbly and drives with a feel and instinctiveness that few other cars can match.

This is a hell of an example too. When did you last see one of these with just over 7,000 miles on the clock? In reality we’re talking about a “nearly new” car here, but without any of the electronic nannies and fripperies that can make some modern performance cars so infuriating.

Make no mistake, this is an absolute gem of a car. Certainly not one to miss.
