Description
Ferrari launched the 550 Maranello in an effort to revive its storied line of grand tourers, and the model swiftly became an overwhelming success. Six years later, in 2002, the 575M Maranello arrived, bringing with it a host of meaningful updates that added further potency to an already exceptional car. Enlarging the V12’s displacement by 250 cubic centimetres to 5,748 cc resulted in outputs of 508 bhp and 434 lb/ft of torque, delivering 0–60 mph in 4.2 seconds and a claimed top speed of 202 mph. The front end received subtle revisions, including new headlights, a redesigned air intake and front spoiler, while weight distribution was improved to a perfect 50/50.
Buyers could choose between two six-speed transmissions: a traditional manual gearbox or, for the first time on a Ferrari V12, Magneti Marelli’s semi-automatic (electro-hydraulic manual) ‘F1’ gearbox. Additional mechanical upgrades included larger brakes and adaptive suspension, with the four independently controlled units working in conjunction with the gearbox to minimise pitch during the 200-millisecond shift interval. Inside, the cabin was refreshed with a modernised dashboard, revised trim and an updated steering wheel.
Supplied new to the UK in June 2003 via Graypaul Ferrari Sheffield this example is specified in Blu Tour de France over Beige with Blu carpets and Blu stitching. Also optioned with desirable Fiorano Handling Package, a factory option widely regarded by the motoring press as essential, comprising re-mapped suspension (with lowered, stiffer springs, revised camber and toe, and a stabiliser bar), upgraded Pagid brake pads and a more performance-focused power-steering ECU.
Beautifully maintained throughout its life and recently fitted with a brand-new set of Michelin tyres all round. It comes complete with two sets of keys and fobs, a tyre inflator, tool kit, all original handbooks in the leather pouch with torch, as well as a substantial file of servicing invoices and MOT certificates.
As one of the most attractive modern-era Ferraris, this wonderfully specified 575M stands out as a discerning choice for spirited weekend drives and long-distance touring alike. Contact us now for more information or to arrange a viewing.
