Description
Can engineering be art? If there is any car manufacturer with a chance of answering that question with a yes, it’s likely Ferrari.
If, like us, your heart burns with a flaming passion for cars, then you’ll undoubtedly say that cars are a living, breathing art form. But for the unlucky ones, who don’t quite get it, they’re just an expensive method of transportation. Whilst that is true, even the most virulently anti-car campaigner can spot the beauty in a front-engined V12 Ferrari.
Whether that’s something powered by a Colombo V12, or something from the now, justifiably revered Montezemolo era. Take the 599 GTB, for example, which had the unenviable task of replacing the 575 Maranello. In part, some of the 599’s beauty is a by-product of aerodynamic advancements; the flying buttresses produce 160kg of downforce. The developments were not just external; for the first time, a Ferrari GT car was built with an aluminium chassis rather than the typical tubular steel frame.
Beauty is, of course, in the eye of the beholder. But this 599 GTB, supplied new in March of 2007, is one of the prettiest. Finished in Nero Daytona over a Cuoio Interior, it sits on a set of 20” monolithic alloy wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tyres. The wheels hide massive carbon ceramic brakes with bright Ferrari red callipers. The exterior is tasteful and subtle, finished with Scuderia shields.
Today, great specification is more important than ever, and this car benefits from the original owner having some excellent taste. Firstly, the car was ordered with Cuoio leather, a shade of tan that has become increasingly desirable, combined with Daytona Seats and Nero carpets. The options ticking exercise didn’t stop there, with optional carbon fibre featuring on the centre console, shift paddles, and dashboard, not to mention the steering wheel, which is also equipped with Formula 1-style shift lights. As a 2007 production year car, the dash wears a celebratory Ferrari 60th anniversary plaque. The dashboard was retrimmed by Kent High Performance Cars in late 2024.
The 599 is powered by a 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 that produces 612 bhp and 448 lb-ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed flappy-paddle “F1 Superfast” transmission. The combination allows the 599 to reach 60 mph faster than you can say, “Ciao Bella”, and will, given enough space, surpass the magic 200 mph barrier.
Coming up to two decades on from its release, the 599 has become a more attainable Ferrari, but for many, maintenance and servicing are a prohibitive concern. But with this car, those concerns are eased by having covered just 31,000 miles from new, with 11 owners. The full-service records show that it has been lovingly maintained, both within the Ferrari network and with specialists.

If you’ve made it this far, you can already appreciate the sheer beauty of this 599 GTB. As cars today become cluttered with grilles, canards and spoilers, the 599 is a divine light in car styling. The fact that it also happens to be an incredible driving experience, with what is basically an Enzo engine, is just a bonus.
As with all our vehicles, an entire digital folder is available upon request and contains more images, walk-around videos, and scans of the service history. The car can also be viewed by appointment at our West London showroom.
