EXTERIOR

The ultimate in ’80’s excess there is simply nothing quite like the Countach, upholding an incredible impact that established one of the most dramatic styling exercise ever conceived. Firmly established in the annals of Supercar history, the 5000 S was significant as the first Countach developed under the ownership of the Mimram Group which had rescued Lamborghini from administration back in 1980.

This Rosso Siviglia example was delivered to the UK from new and has been thoroughly restored. As such the paintwork shows consistently well around the car, with vents and ducts finished in contrast Nero. There is very little, if nothing, of note to detract from it’s formidable presence.

Unique aesthetics in the Scissor doors and pop up headlights operate swiftly and smoothly with surrounding trims appearing smart and supple.

INTERIOR

It was always going to be a tough job for the cabin to match the exterior styling, although with a low-slung driving position and that panoramic view out of the steeply raked windscreen you instantly feel you’re behind the wheel of something very special. The dashboard arrangement follows a function over from mantra with key operating gauges and dials clear and easy to read. The sculpted seats offer a touring style comfort and remain in excellent condition with little to no wear whilst more champagne leather adorns the gearbox tunnel and door cards.

Awash with double stitched leather the huge tunnel-like sills and dashboard top show excellent colour and integrity, areas that can so often let these cars down.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

The 5000 S marked the arrival of an enlarged Lamborghini V12 production engine for the first time since 1966, when the original 3.5-litre unit was taken out to a four-litre displacement. Fully stripped, inspected and rebuilt by the 4.7 engine is in fine fettle and certainly looks the part too.

Now complimented by a bespoke Quicksilver exhaust system, performance and acoustics are enhanced further in line with the car’s wild appearance.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

The Teledial wheels are written into Lamborgini folklore and look fantastic against the red bodywork; unmarked in gold with a concave dish and displaying the correct Ruote O.Z. stickers. The teledial holes on the rear are pronounced further, home to the largest rear rubber fitted to a production car of that era – an enormous 345/35 section tyre. Pirelli Cinturato P7 tyres are fitted at each corner – all recently replaced with excellent tread.

Brake pads show plenty of life with discs free of lipping or scoring, pulling the car up with a minimum of fuss.

HISTORY FILE

First registered by Lamborghini London from new in June of 1984, as indicated by the original service and warranty book, this Countach has always resided in the UK.

With service stamps up until 2001, alongside a sheaf of invoicing from the car’s earlier years, the car has been engineer owned and maintained by a leading UK specialist to an excellent standard.

In the mid noughties the car was subject to a light restoration brought about as a result of a mechanical oversight with the carburettors that led to an engine bay fire; this was all rectified as part of the restoration process that included a full engine and carburettor rebuild!

With the car having been run in, and MOT’d with no advisories earlier this year, this 5000 S is one of just a handful of UK delivered cars and is available for immediate viewing.
