Description
With a heavy heart, I am selling my Mark 4 Golf R32.
It's a black 3 door, with Konig half-leather seats and a factory fitted sunroof. It has a Pioneer DVD player fitted, but I also still have the original stereo.
The car has been in my family for the last 22 years - my father had it from late 2003 until 2015, which is when I purchased it from him, completely standard and unmodified.
Since 2017 it has been in storage, only coming out for an MOT every year.
It has a full VW service history, has never been in an accident, and has never been smoked in.
It has some minor cosmetic blemishes in keeping with a car of this age:
Stone chips to the front bumper and front edge of the bonnet;
A scuff on the nearside front bumper and another on the far side rear bumper from inconsiderate parkers;
A very small patch of rust on the right edge of the boot handle aperture (Mk4 Golfs are apparently notorious for this);
A scrape on the drivers side wing mirror surround;
A small stone chip on the windscreen (sealed by Autoglass in 2015, and not an MOT issue)
Other points to note are:
The boot is only lockable with the key (not with the central locking). This happened when I had the aforementioned rust next to the boot handle treated by a bodywork shop who lost a part of the mechanism whilst working on the car...
The drivers side wing mirror has slightly limited adjustability upwards - but is fine for my (normal) driving position.
I would have had all of these things seen to, but unfortunately have recently spent so much money on the car, I can't justify it!
I have always wanted to keep the car 100% unmodified, but when it failed it's MOT in October 2024 (2x cracked suspension springs), I discovered the parts required from VW were obsolete. I also discovered that a number of other parts also needed replacing due to corrosion.
Due to work commitments I was then unable to do anything with the car until summer this year. After much research I took it to The Phirm in Camberley, Surrey. They had it for almost 4 months and did a huge amount of work on the car (for which I have all receipts). Wherever possible, they used OEM VW parts, but there were some things the they could not source. The work has cost over £12,000.
New brake discs, hoses, lines, pads and callipers
New suspension arms
KW coilovers front and rear
New front and rear subframe
Full Milltek cat back non res exhaust
New Michelin Pilot Sport tyres x4
New hoses, cables, wheel bearings, ball joints, auxiliary drive belts, brake fluid etc etc...
The list is too long to list in full here, and I'm happy to provide more detail and evidence if desired.
I have a lot of sentimental attachment to the car, and want it to go to the right home. It's an appreciating classic, and it should be enjoyed, not sat in a garage.
