Overview

A mid-engined two-seater used to be the kind of thing we all dreamed of but couldn’t ever see ourselves actually owning. But then Porsche brought along the 987 in 2006 and suddenly a mid-engined two-seater started to look like a car you could buy with your head, not just your heart.

The Cayman we have here comes with a goodly stack of servicing invoices and stamps, and a freshly squeezed MOT certificate which will take you all the way to December 2026. It has had a thorough suspension overhaul, including new rear springs in 2023, a rebuilt cylinder head in 2024, and replacement exhaust parts in 2025.

Its interior is the kind of joyously simple affair which you got back in 2007, without any touchscreens or pointless safety warnings. You simply get in, play your favourite CD, and drive off into the distance. With 240 horses galloping away there’s plenty of power to play with, and the five-speed manual transmission will keep you entertained when tackling a twisty stretch of road.

In short, there’s no reason to settle for a boring commute when there are Caymans snapping at your heels, and this one is ready to go.
