Description

2005 S3 Caterham R400 K-Series (VHPD), 6 x Speed, 205BHP, 28k
As They Say, You Never Really Know Which 7 You Want Until You Have It. I Went Big For My First 7, This R400 Is A Very Quick Road Car, But Also, Very Drive-able, It is In Superb Condition As It Has Been Very Well Looked After, And Is Highly Spec’d, But, As It Turns Out, I Have An R500 Lined Up For Spring And Unfortunatley I Need To Make Way, So I Am Testing The Water To See If Someone Would Like To Become The Next Owner Of This Absolute Beauty.
As Featured On The Cover Of This Month’s Lowflying (December 2025)
A Story All R400 Owners Should know. The Caterham R400K Has An Almost Legendary Status In Caterham Circles. Perfectly Combining The Uncompromising Superlight Chassis With The Very Lightweight And Revvy K-Series VHPD Engine On Roller Barrel Throttle Bodies And The Superb Caterham 6 Speed Close Ratio Gearbox, The R400K Is Viewed By Many Enthusiasts As Arguably The Best Car Caterham Has Ever Produced. Indeed In 2002 An R400K (Driven By A Certain Chris Harris and Co) Won It's Class At The Nurburgring 24hr Race By Over 10 Laps, And Was Subsequently Banned From Racing By The ADAC!
This Car Is A Genuine R400 (Not An Upgraded And Re-Badged R300). With Supercar Slaying Performance (0-60 3.9s) It Is Not For The Faint Hearted, A Modern And Highly Desirable Paint Finish, Some Subtle Upgrades And A Few Nods To Comfort And Practicality Too, It Really Is A Superb Example Of This Sought-After Caterham With An Incredible Specification. This Has All The Performance Of The Modern 420 At A More Reasonable Price.
Built By Rob Vissers As His Third Caterham Build Back In 2005, Rob Sold This R400 To Compete In The Caterham Academy, He Then Competed For 5 Years In Caterham Racing.
