Requires completion of restoration
My sad loss is definitely someone else’s big gain, unfortunately I have finally run out of time to bring this project to its final completion and so this beautiful, rare sought after motorsport classic is up for sale.
I am not going to ramble on about what this car is, if you are looking then, you already know the stats and pedigree. I purchased her back in 2005 for what was going to be a rolling restoration, use the car but also bring her back up to scratch. I already owned an E30 M3 and E28 Alpina B9 at the time so this made a very nice addition.
I then realised that once the M3 was back on the road, the M6 was just not being used so decided to do it properly and take her off the road ready to be restored.
After the bodywork was last worked on in 2011 to make ready for paint I purchased both an E46 M3 and E46 Alpina and so once again she went back into storage. Also, the E30 M3 took over as the restoration project and this took up my time to restore to completion. Finally I managed to find time again and to be honest inclination post covid to refresh the underneath with new parts I bought some time ago, but time and broken promises have now run out so it’s time for someone else to make her into a future show winner.
As you will see from the documented history, the vehicle has been maintained to the highest standard and the most recent work prior to the car being taken off the road included the very important timing chain replacement which included a top-end rebuild which was carried out at 144,892 miles. The vehicle currently has 145,777 miles.
Some of the photos have been uploaded but I also have created a PDF document which contains full details of maintenance and service history as well as detailed photos of the vehicle and all its parts and interior which can be supplied to anyone interested, just send a request with your email address.
I can also be contacted on: 07958 531103
The car is currently still stripped of all its trim and interior parts ready for final paint, in my garage on ramps so can be easily inspected.

Exterior – Bodywork
The bodywork of this wonderful M635csi is in excellent condition with no nasty surprises regarding any rot. All parts has already been removed, catalogued and stored - both exterior and interior, this also makes it easier for anyone to properly check the car over.
The bodywork has already been prepared for paint and is currently coated in a protected zinc primer to protect it from any flash rust. Some minimal bodywork is just needed by the paint shop prior to painting once the zinc coating has been removed.
This Sills and the wheel arches including the inner wings etc. are in great condition with no rot what-so-ever. There may be some flash (surface) rust to be removed but that’s it.
There is an invoice from 1997 where some restoration work was done that included work on the sills and jacking points, and restoration work in 2006 and 2011 to get the car ready for paint.
Replacement doors, both in excellent condition have already been fitted as the original doors (also supplied with the original locks etc) had started to rust on the bottom sills. Also there is a pair of replacement front wings, one is brand new and one is second hand in excellent condition.
All the trim parts have been removed and stored in which at some point the window trims have been repainted to give the shadow chrome effect and may need a refresh to bring them back up to scratch.
The vehicle comes with a full M-Tech body kit from factory, and 2 sets of alloy wheels, the original TRX wheels with the obligatory Michelin tyres (now very old) and a set of 16” BBS alloy wheels with Bridgestone tyres.
All glass is correct and present.
Boot Area
The boot is in excellent condition with no rust or rot, including the location of the battery. Dynamat material has been installed to improve sound insulation but of course this can be removed if you so wish.
The tool kit is complete including the custom spark plug extractor and all tools are in great condition.
Bonnet Area and Engine Bay
Just before the vehicle was taken off the road for a total restoration, the engine was treated to a fresh oil service and the valves checked and adjusted (re-shimmed) if required.
The coolant was removed and all the pipes and hoses inspected and replaced, if necessary, in which a new radiator and expansion tank was also added.
At the same time the cam cover and plenum were restored.
As the engine cannot be started for obvious reasons, I have removed all ancillary belts and made sure the cam cover is removable so it is possible to see the engine being turned over by hand with no issues.
As mentioned the timing chain had been replaced, etc. Also all the valves were checked and any re-shimmed if necessary.
Exterior – Underneath and suspension
The car has gone through a full restoration underneath, from the rear of the vehicle right up to the front firewall and jacking points, this includes all the suspension parts, fuel system and drive train. It just needs the front suspension to be reviewed and new brake lines fitted along with the brake assemblies. Work on restoring the front underneath of the car to the same standard will be up to the new owner. Also, the gearbox and prop shaft will need re-fitting once a new clutch has been fitted (there is no evidence in the invoices of a new clutch being fitted). Some restoration work to the jacking points just to tidy them up will be required (they are solid and already replaced) and there is evidence that the RH chassis rail has had some new metal work at some point.
The front chassis legs are in great condition with evidence of just one small repair due to I assume rust on the front RH side.
Prior to restoration, the car was coated in a protected coating of underseal, it did not look nice but was apparent that this underseal did its job of keeping the water, salt and so the rot away. This has now been replaced with nice new sealant where appropriate and a combination of POR and Eastwoods chassis paint.
Interior – Bodywork
The original sound proofing has been removed but stored in the boot, to be installed later. New Dynamat acoustic matting has been installed to improve acoustics in which the stored sound proofing can be fitted on top.
Original carpet and floor mats still in very good condition.
Interior – leather components and panels
The Interior prior to removal from the car was in great condition, at the same time I had the choice of installing a full leather interior which included the very expensive and virtually impossible to find original full leather dash, centre consoles, glove boxes, side panels, rear headrests and roof lining. The car already came with the fully electric front leather sports seats and back seats.
Some of these leather components will need to be re-coloured and some come in a choice of grey or black leather, but will result in a very special pre-highline interior combination once completed.
Interior – components and switches, etc.
With the interior totally stripped for inspection and any areas needing attention repaired or has repairs pending, all components and switches have been catalogued and stored in boxes.
Exterior – Components and switches, etc.
Any items that need to be fitted back on the vehicle has been bagged and tagged.
Also, other loose items that unfortunately was not tagged have at least been bagged.
Payment
Cash or BACS transfer accepted either before or on day of the Pickup.
