motodrome offer for sale this fine looking example of the iconic Mark 1 Golf GTi – this a 1982 1.8 5-speed, finished in Jet Black with contrasting sports trim. .

Fitted with sunroof, campaign-style quad lamp grille, and 13in alloys with a matching set of near-new tyres.

Inside it’s standard except for a more modern radio/CD

Odometer reading 111000m.

This one seems to have started it’s life in Northern Ireland, before coming to the mainland in 1989, and still wears it’s original NI registration number as was permitted at the time.

As far as we can establish, it was taken off the road in 2013 needing restoration, which never really got started until the last owner bought it as a stalled project in 2024, and immediately set to work. Mechanically all seemed good bar the usual, recommissioning, but the body was in a bad way.

New sills

New front panel

New rear panel

New windscreen

New headlights and exhaust

New tyres on refurbished wheels

Followed by a repaint in the original colour scheme with the right silver decals.

The work was finished in Summer 2025 and it’s done minimal mileage since.

History-wise we have a good sheaf of bills from the recent refurbishment, a large sheaf from the late 1990’s to 2002 (including an engine rebuild in 2000) at circa 80000 miles, and old MOT’s back to 1982.
