Boxster 986S

6 speed manual in seal grey with 93,538 miles

I’ve owned the car since 2017 and it has been garaged throughout my ownership, now selling as I’ve just bought a mk1 Escort that has taken its spot in the garage.

The Boxster is currently being stored at my parents in their carport to keep it covered.

Work I’ve done to car:

I have replaced the following items:

lower suspension arm

control arms

anti roll bar drop links

rear track control arm with ball joint

rear control arm link

front & rear pads

belt drive

expansion tank

coffin arms

Replaced shifter for quick shift

Alloys have been powder coated

Brake callipers repainted (kept the colour red) with new decals

Replaced seats for seats from a 997 911 (they were heated seats but I’ve never gotten round to getting the relays and switches to connect them, but the electric adjustment does work)

Replaced head unit for CarPlay headhunt and fitted speakers behind the seats in the cubby holes

Replaced exhaust system from front to back, stainless manifolds, stainless decaf pipes, Supersprint performance back box, the exhaust system with all the components was in excess of £2000 this is not a cheap droning exhaust from eBay, it’s a complete system that I bought from supersprint in Italy, the sound is stunning, especially when you put your foot down, but as it has removed 2 of the 4 sensors from the exhaust system it can sometimes cause an eml to show, this is easily reset

Replaced side repeaters for smoked

Replaced hi-line boot brake light for smoked LED unit

Replaced rear lights for smoked lenses

Replaced plenum and throttle body for 996 plenum and throttle body

I have kept the complete original exhaust system, back box, cats etc, all old lights front/rear/side lights, hi-line brake light, snorkel, plenum, throttle body etc. everything I have changed I still have the originals (except the seats) so the entire car can be put back to stock if preferred, or you can sell the spare parts off at a profit.

I have got a 987 airbox and filter as I was going too carry out the airbag mod, but I haven’t quite gotten around to it, same with the gearbox, I was going to drain the gearbox oil and replace for new just to freshen it up due to the age of the car (I have 3 litres of oil for this), again on my to do list, just not gotten round to it yet.

Bad points with the car

Small scratch in wind deflector

Hood is a bit tatty, rear screen is hazy, it’s been like this since I bought the car, but I always drive with roof down (doesn’t go out in the wet) so never bothered me, but this is the only thing that lets the car down.

Couple of minor age related marks on paintwork as you would expect for a 24 year old car.

Prior to my ownership the car had a replacement engine at 12,150 miles

Replacement clutch at 67,704 so plenty of life left in the clutch yet.

Car has always been serviced regularly with Mobil1 oil and run on Shell Optimax fuel.

The car is a good solid well maintained example of a 986 Boxster S, it’s great fun to drive, quick & responsive and very well planted, anyone who buys this car will be very happy with it and will hopefully have as much fun as I have.
