The Rolls-Royce Corniche IV represents the absolute pinnacle of the Corniche lineage. Having first been launched as the Silver Shadow Drophead in 1967, the car had gone through many iterations in the subsequent years, being renamed as the Corniche in 1971, the introduction of the Corniche 1A in 1976 with the updated dashboard and larger wheel arches to be seen on later cars, the Corniche II in 1986, the III in 1989 and finally the IV in 1992. The changes made for the IV were by far the most considerable for any Corniche since the 1A. New for the Corniche IV (40000 Series) was a 4-speed transmission, ABS and most importantly of all an entirely new convertible roof, now with a glass rear window, lower profile, 1 centimetre lower side windows and an 8 centimetre longer rear quarter window. These gave the car a significantly sleeker look when the roof was up. Another benefit to the new roof was that it would automatically latch itself. Further changes were made in 1994 with the introduction of the 50000 Series. These cars benefit from numerous upgrades including a new, Zwytek engine management system, a further modified roof design with a smaller rear window, dual-exhausts, different seats and a passenger airbag. The 50000 Series is the rarest and most coveted standard Corniche variant and that only makes the car we present more special. This 1995 Rolls-Royce Corniche IV is only 49 cars built in 1995. Of these 49 cars, 25 were commemorative Corniche S models with the turbocharger and chin spoiler, making the standard 24 Corniche IVs for 1995 even rarer. Of these 24 cars, the vast majority went to America and in our extensive research, we have only ever come across 1 other European delivered 1995 Corniche IV. The benefits of the European cars are widely known and the most desirable differences in contrast to their US counterparts are the smaller bumpers and no side-marker lights or boot mounted light. They are the purest Corniche IV and without a doubt the best. To find a European delivered Corniche IV is rare and from the final year of production is unrepeatable. The car we proudly offer today looks sublime in its original colours of Diamond Graphite Metallic over St James Red hide interior. This stunning specification is further complimented by an astonishingly rare Mohair hood as most IVs had Everflex. The car has only done 21,000 miles from new and has had only two owners from new. It was sold new in Germany via Car & Driver, better known today as Classic Driver and remains EU Taxes paid and re-registerable in Germany and other EU countries. It truly is the rarest Corniche IV of all and simply irreplaceable.
