A superb, beautifully maintained, cherished Z4M Coupe known well to the team at Munich Legends, with a local owner for the last decade. This coupe is completely standard, and has never been modified in any way, maintaining its original factory spec.

Hardcore. Brutal. Focused. Uncompromising. Rewarding. These are just some of the adjectives used to describe one of the purest BMW M cars to come out of the final part of BMW’s purple patch, powered by the last naturally aspirated, legendary 6-cylinder M engine to be produced by the company.

In the early 2000s, BMW’s Motorsport Division began to get a bit of flak from traditional M drivers, who felt that the latest generation M cars were becoming too safe, and too controlled, with their surfeit of driver aids and creature comforts. So, the decision was made to prove a point by producing this no holds barred, raw two-seater monster. Transplanting the world beating 3.2 straight six S54 from the then-current M3, this time BMW were able to squeeze the full potential from the engine and by mating it with a tauter, lighter, more focused chassis, produced a car that would silence all their critics. Taking the original Z3-based, left-field M coupe (or Z3 M Coupe, as many would call it) concept – and building on its cult popularity, the team at BMW M certainly succeeded in their mission. But they also built a beautiful car, which has grown more and more in popularity as the current BMW range moves further away from their iconic earlier styling.

Sold by us nearly a decade ago to its current keeper, this Imola Z4M coupe has been in the hands of a true enthusiast-collector – one who also enjoys actually using their cars. Keeping the car in tip-top mechanical condition throughout their ownership, we’ve seen the car regularly, know it very well, and love it!

With a full service history, and great provenance, the slightly above average mileage (for this model) means that from a price perspective this Z4M is more accessible than some examples we’ve seen this year, but with – actually by most standards a pretty low mileage reading of under 75,000 – this particular car should still be a reliable investment and a pleasure to own. Our technical team have carried out their usual rigorous inspection, despite us being familiar with the car, and they are delighted – if unsurprised – with the result.
