1990 BMW M3

The E30 M3 is one of the most successful race cars ever built, winning countless races around the DTM tracks of Europe during its 80s heyday. It was also a wildly successful homologation road car, and has become one of the most iconic machines to come out of the period, as well as being largely responsible for the early success of the BMW M brand.

Nowadays, the original M3 has become a collectors item, with the Sport Evolution version fetching record prices in 2025 (world record set in April 2025 was $320,000 by Munich Legends) and the ‘standard’ E30 M3 models rising accordingly. This means that it is almost impossible to find a donor car from which to build a track car from, without wasting ludicrous amounts of money.

This particular E30 M3 track car is a real treat. Built by an experienced mechanic and known to us for some time, the car has been in storage with us for several years, coming out regularly for services and MOT schedules etc.

Stripped to the bone, and feeling bang on the money, this M3 is the perfect example of what these machines are capable of simply with a little lightening. Suddenly, the engine has a lot less weight to push forward, the steering feels sharper and more precise, and the balance/road manners of the car is close to perfection. Perfect for serious track events, or the odd gentleman’s circuit evening, fast road driving or just as a beauty to stare at on the drive, this road legal M3 is about as much fun as you can have fully clothed.

As always, our technical team – despite knowing the car well – have carried out their usual rigorous inspection, and are very pleased with the results. A few items will be attended to prior to delivery to a new owner, making sure that this lovely M3 is as much fun to drive and own as one would expect from – let’s face it – the ultimate track toy for the E30 M3 fan.
